Olivier Giroud?

He will be a back up, hopefully, and will excel in coming off the bench.

He doesn't strike me as a good impact player

He might improve dramatically.

Choice that's as marvellous quote.

I fear that applied to Wenger nowadays.

As for Giroud I got no hope on him. He could improve but I seriously doubt a lot. It's not his clinical ness I'm worried about its his general play. Someone his size should terrorise defenders like Drogba did. If Giroud ever does that then I can say he's a player.

He'll improve and be a top, top squad player for us.

his record this season is very good for a first season in the premier league. be happy with that

He will improve his finishing and his touch, he may not be a top player but a good option up-front.

every time I've watched him he gets into these great positions to score and then puts it wide or straight at the keeper

he's like Gomez with even worse finishing.

could go either way, if he gets confident or hits finishing form, he's easily a 20+ league goals striker because he gets the chances.

Any half decent striker will score 20+ league goals for Arsenal if they stay fit for an entire season. Giroud can even do that if he is number 1 striker next season.

But if you ignore his very wasteful finishing, it is his general play that really sticks out as awful to me. He is slow, easily dispossessed, a poor passer, average in the air and often caught offside. Most Arsenal attacks break down when the ball gets to him, I would rather he sort all of the above out before he starts banging in 20+ goals a season because we have plenty of other players who can score goals if he is not scoring, but will not get the opportunity to score because his general play is woeful.

The amount of chances we create, any striker that can stay fit for an entire season will score 20+ league goals for us, in fact I can't remember a time in my life that an Arsenal first choice striker has failed to do that when they have been fit for an entire season.

You're cheating batmoanu

For the last 15 years your first choice striker was either Henry or RvP. Who were admittedly 'half decent'

Giroud has had quite a successful first season despite some people questioning his ability. He is a great striker if we want to continue battling for 4th place every year, but personally i don't want to see that.

Its not that giroud isn't very good, its the fact i want to see Arsenal step up a couple of levels next season and that requires singing elite (or potentially elite) level players. Giroud just isn't good enough to be one of those top drawer strikers, which is what we should want for our club.

Adebayor

We don't play football like we used to, we don't make as many chances nowadays. And Ade was much worse than Gervinho when he first joined anyway, took him 3 seasons to score than many goals.
