Would rather have Luiz at CB than Terry atm

Ramires was pretty good in the first half, was our best passer. Don't know what happened second half though!

As a CB, where be belongs

I still hold dear the Ramirez goal in the semi-final against Barca last year, which means, he's allowed a lot of leeway.Keep the faith.

over this hectic week Luiz and Ivan have been great. Plus how good was Luiz's playmaking today. Those long balls are such a good aspect to his game great service to the Amigos

Ramires has been key to some of our best performances recently, him and Mikel is our best midfield option atm

Come on mate, you cant be serious... One goal means you can excuse any rubbish served up afterwards?

I maintain he should be a squad player at best. I think he will become that, once we sort our midfield out by next season.

Went to the game today and thought Ramires played well, as did Luiz and Mikel. Oscar was rubbish for most of the match. Can't believe he stayed on.

Ramires was no awful, if not for him we would have been outrun in midfield

Oscar and hazard were awful, and more

i swear to god

this cristscim of ramires is insane, he is never going to be a sllky midifeld passer, his game is about strnegth pace and being able to turn defense into attack in a blink of an eye.

Get a farking grip, without rami we are stuck with lampard mikel and once in a while luiz.

you have lampard and mikel in every game and you will soon be moaning.

seriously the people calling for him to be a squad player clearly dont watch or analyse football properly

get a grip...im just please that rafa and robbie before him were not as simple minded as some on here

Toby you've been on Rafa's back even before he put pen to paper, not sure why you're praising him now. Ramires is the best of a bad bunch. I just dont see what he brings apart from energy. Can you tell me what he brings? Is he creative, can he hold onto the ball in tight situations? He commits a lot of fouls and he breaks down a lot of moves. I admit he's good going forward in a counter attack when we're outnumbering the defence but even then he finds someway to muck it up. He's a good player but limited. Maybe I'm expecting too much of him to be an Essien of old because that's what we had when we were in our pomp. Proper box to box midfielder who get up and down the pitch, drive forward with the ball at his feet and could score goals too. Why replace Rolls Royce with a Skoda and be happy with it?

If your expecting him to be Essien then you'll always be disappointed. Essien was one of the best in the world in his pomp!

Ramires is never awful. He makes up for his mistakes with his energy and interceptions. Ramires is a match winner, I can never criticise him because he works hard for the team every game. Today Oscar was the worst player on the pitch, Hazard and Mata were quiet as well..

From your post describing Ramires, Ive taken the following....

He makes mistakes but he makes up for it with his energy and interceptions and he works hard for the team.

He's a workhorse then

Is Mikel the right player to play alongside Ramires?

Lost cause

I always think you need an Arteta type of player alongside players like Ramires.

Mikel could be so much more imposing on our midfield, than he already is.. Its like he's holding back deliberately. I dont get it.

posted on 7/4/13

Yeah Viva. We'll need someone like Alonso who's a DM but can create from deep. Would work well

Romeu could be that man actually, but he's injury prone

posted on 7/4/13

Yeah. Romeu, I liked what I saw of him. He took the ball forward and was directing players, on where to go. Pulling the strings so to speak and he's only young.

It pised me off when Cech passed the ball to Mikel, you'd expect a holding midfielder to be more aware and turn around with the ball, instead he gave it back to Cech and no opposition players were even near him.

posted on 7/4/13

Yeah he doesnt seem to make any meaningful passes. Depends how much we expect from our DM to be honest? If he's gna be our DM then I want him to be an absolute mental nutcase in the middle of the pitch, making sure, no one out muscles him or gets past him without a fight. If he did that then I'd be happy but he doesnt.

Thought he was our best player after Luiz today
