How do you know?

Have you had the surgery I had? I will guess you have not so are in no position to judge at all!

I followed the advice of kidney experts, not some bitter on a football forum.

Raj could give you better advice, he knows an expert.

Are we....are we?

Hmmmmmm

Are we, he has vanished. No doubt on the phone or trying to show me that a kidney processes blood alcohol.

He's on Google searching for alcohol related kidney problems.

posted on 11/4/13

Well he will struggle, maybe he should google about Livers

Oh what a guilt trip.
Buy a bigger shovel. You are going to need one. Pathetic individual now attempting to bring sexism into it.
As a point of interest. My friend died of cancer of the Pancreas and my sister in law of Kidney failure. She had lived with the complaint for many years and underwent weekly dialysis for the last 10 years of her life. She was told by her "Specialist" and treatment team, never to touch alcohol during that time.
If you deem it wise to do so then carry on.Just dont brag about your alcohol consumption then complain about the after ffects the day after.
P.S. I was missing from mid afternoon yesterday as i had a hospital appointment with my own Consultant at Walton. Satisfied?

Alcohol isn't directly bad for the kidney. Alcohol when not drank in moderation however is bad for your body overall.

Indirectly, alcohol, like many other things, including foods which are high in calories can be bad for your kidneys, in Fell's case, kidney, as it can increase blood pressure and blood pressure is one of the main reasons for kidney failure.

Well as I don't have kidney failure I can't see the link between someone on dialysis and me a donor?

Did you not read the information I gave?

As for real patients not being allowed to drink alcohol, well please find me a quote or medical link?

My recipient was only restricted on fluid volume, as the kidney has not link to removing alcohol I will call your bluff on that made up assumption.

Weekly dialysis? Do you jot mean agree times a week heamodialysis? Or peritoneal dialysis either overnight or at 4-5 hour intervals during the day?

I have lived his treatment as we worked together to get this transplant. Please don't question our shared knowledge as U will shoot you down time and time again. Do you want some pictures of his PD stuff, they won't have it returned and its in his spare room. Or a picture of his Baxter PD machine? How about his rejection meds. He said I should just ignore you....but will take pleasure in showing you up. So what's it to be?

I say just meet in the street and fight it out with the loser being filtered.

TOOR. HE IS TALKING RUBBISH. HE HAS NO IDEA, I DOUBT HE EVEN KNOWS ANYONE WHO DID 'WEEKLY' DIALYSIS. ANYONE DOING DIALYSIS WILL EITHER DO IT EVERY DAY OR AGREE TIMES A WEEK IN A DEDICATED REAL UNIT.

I WON'T HAVE HIM MOCK MY RECIPIENT IN THIS WAY AND HE SHOULD SEE THIS AS A FINAL WARNING. ANDHEWHERE DOES THE SEXIST COMMENT COME FROM??

posted on 12/4/13

Nobody here does weekly dialysis, I know that.

I think it's when I called you Lois.

posted on 12/4/13

I am sure he knows someone who does it weekly!!

Lois.....well why is he moaning on about that. My recipient thinks he is mental. But that's his opinion. He is out for a beer with me next weekend at a comedy club. He has been cleared to drink as his liver function has recovered after anesthetic and from anti rejection drugs. Should be a nice relaxed and normal night for him.

Just talked to a renal consultant. He said they do it three times a week for four hours at a time. Wouldn't fancy going through that.

He also said with a healthy kidney, alcohol isn't an issue unless you abuse it and with an unhealthy one it's an issue simply because the kidneys then have excess water to drain.

TOOR, what do you know

Its weekly and you cant drink alcohol

I think a renal patient and a kidney donor would know all about what you can and cant do, but Sliky is the expert here. Much like when he doubted my pictures with Ossie, Hibbo and Jags.

posted on 12/4/13

IF you want to talk to him again ask him.

Is it about 6 weeks for a donor and 12 weeks for a recipient to avoid alcohol?

Because that is what Sheffield Kidney Institute suggest, but others know better

Sexist comment. Your brains have left the room. You wrote.
""With another posters comments i am not sure tehy(sic) are a man either.....but they are a medical expert".
Ring any bells?
Your Capitalised Threats are offensive, abusive and uncalled for.
Just what is wrong with you that you have to issue such perverse statements about a fatal illness to my relative, about whom you know nothing. You read into my comments about their treatment ,omething to satisfy your ridiculous propensity for argument on a Topic which is so completely Off Topic, that any reasonable and sensitive person would have let go of long ago.
If i were to have risen to your challenge, i would and could have, produced a mutiplicity of precedents as to varied effects of alcohol on kidneys, the frequency of Dialysis treatment and the names of the Specialists involved.
To do so however would have been no more than to add fuel to the fire that you keep burning.
By the way, Weekly means anything from 1 to 7 and is not specific as to regularity. You, with your superior knowledge of all matters, Medical should know that.

End of.
