Arshavin, biggest ever Arsenal flop

Don't think so, he paid his transfer fee back pretty much by ensuring the club qualified for the CL in 09. Though he was on big wages for pretty much 2 seasons where he hardly played, and I think for the fee we paid you'd have expected better performances, and a longer peak.

Biggest flop I'd say was Francis Jeffers. Unlike Arshavin I don't think he ever had a spell where he looked like a top player, for £8m or so I think his return was pretty bad. Not sure how Arsenal's scouting network made such a glaring error of judgement.

Oh yh CEG after that he completely went downhill.

Jeffers was facked by injuries though and only for as much as Richard Wright who was just as much a flop

He wasn't fat and lazy against Reading, he was lean, sharp and played a full 120 minutes without even looking tired. For a 32 year old to complete a match of that intensity is something to take note of. What did Arsene do? Drop him to the bench for the next game. Who could blame him for falling out of love, his own manager gave up on him even though he took the chances he was given. Dreadful man management that has eventually led to the end of what should have been a memorable career

Do you really wanna go there Batmoanu? If Giroud or Gervinho have a good game against Reading you'd say how they're the worst team in the league and anyone would look good against them etc

Jeffers was more of a flop because he was awful, with Arshavin it's the waste of talent, lack of interest, fall from grace and frustration with seeing him happy to sit there and do nothing just because he's getting payed. Disappointment is probably a better word than flop, when I look at him now it's really pathetic to see how he has no desire to prove himself.

Giroud and (to an extent) Gervinho are shoved down our throats every week, no matter how bad they play. Arshavin was lucky to make the bench no matter how well he played. Shame really, Wenger made his mind up and was too stubborn to ever look back

Biggest waste of talent under the great mans reign is Reyes.

Also batmanu he was playing against a awful side in Reading. He wasn't even all that in the match. He has rightfully been dropped and Wenger gave him enough chances.

4 goals at Anfield, 1 tap in, 1 weak shot/Reina error, 1 mishit, 1 good goal.

-------------------

It wan't the quality of goals but the context and affect it had on our season, we really needed the 3 points that night.

None of Arshavin's goals at Anfield were easier than Gervinho's misses vs Blackburn and Bradford. 8bit's hero Gervinho, who has been here nearly 2 years and has NEVER has a spell for form like Arshavin, wonder how that one works out

that is a good point, as bad as Gervinho has been at times he has never been as useless as Arshavin was for that 6 months before he got dropped.

I KNEW you would say that. All too predictable 8bit. The reality is in your own article you have admitted that Arshavin had 18months/2 years of good form. Gervinho has not even had 18 hours of good form with us

posted on 10/4/13

hasnt he only been with us 18 months?

I don't have the same levels of expectations from Gerv, Arshavin was signed as a superstar, sort of delivered for 2 years and then became so bad that he couldn't even get in the team ahead of Gerv.

"4 goals at Anfield, 1 tap in, 1 weak shot/Reina error, 1 mishit, 1 good goal."

For a guy who's lodged up every Arsenal player's behind, you don't half give credit, do you?

You're even trying to downplay his performance against Liverpool.
The hate is strong with this one.

Watch the 4 goals again, that's how they were. I'm not saying it wasn't amazing to score 4 at Anfield, but it doesn't make him a great player because he did it, Baptitsa did it too.

Gervinho cannot play football. Gibbs couldn't play football for a while too.
Jenkinson was Bambi's zombie mother revived on ice for a spell.
Koscielny was tapping in own goals like Hernandez.

You had faith in all of these, no matter how woeful they were.
Show Arshavin respect you c'awksucker.

Gervinho, Kos, Gibbs and Jenkinson are all playing well at the moment so was I wrong to have faith. On the other hand I said Arsh was overrated and went on to become totally rubbish. I can't help it if i'm psychic.

Arshavin has let his career become a shambles through his own making, if he doesn't have respect for himself then you can't expect others to respect you.

Dubbed, it is because he fell out of favor with Wenger. Notice how he says Rosicky is finished and Podolski always goes missing just because Wenger doesn't pick them enough. As soon as they get a run in the team again he will start talking them up again
