Wishful thinking that mate. Sven has out a very good side together. A good blend of skill and experience. I think they'll stroll it.

Not at Notts C he didnt

And that has what to do with the team he's put together at Leicester?

Afraid to agree with 'yousawme........', I think with the balance of players Sven has brought in, if they anything like Gel, they will stroll this Division. TBH I actually think this division is even weaker than last season.
Uncle Fester are attempting to 'buy' there way out of this division, and I doubt they will have many better opportunities. If it works they will then fall under Premiership rules, and the so-called 'new' rules we will be stuck with won't apply to them (at least for one season).
TBH we had our chance last January, had we strengthened then, we were in a position with games in hand (i'm not saying we would have won them all), I believe we could have comfortably kept pace with Norwich, but I guess we'll never know.

Why do people refer to Svens time at Notts County?

Firstly, he wasn't manager there.

Secondly, he, along with a whole bunch of people, were duped into believing rich investors had bought the club.

When it came to light that the whole thing was a con and there was a real chance of County going to the wall, Sven walked away without taking a penny of the £2m severance package he was entitled to.

The businessman, Ray Trew, who rescued County, thanked Sven for his kind gesture and called him "a complete gentleman".

Get your facts right next time please.

As to promotion, as always, it's a big ask, but if we can find the right striker, we've probably got better chance than most.

Got to agree with the Leicester fans comment above.

I think Leicester have bought well and have a good blend of players and come the end of April I'm sure they'll be in the top two. I'd be surprised if they aren't.

"As to promotion, as always, it's a big ask, but if we can find the right striker, we've probably got better chance than most."

I'd agree with that. We need a striker, or two, before we can be considered genuine promotion hopefuls. I think we'll be in the play offs simply because, if we aren't in touch in January, I reckon the owners will throw more money at it.

Our squad is nowhere near as good, on paper, as West Ham's squad and my other top two tip is Ipswich.

But ..... doesn't matter what we think we'll see.

I'm still not convinced that both Leicester and Forest didn't sack managers who could get them out of this division in Pearson and Davies.

I don't think this article is going as the author planned!

For the record we undoubtedly need a striker to seriously challenge but our squad is looking very strong. Pretty much two quality players available in each position is a luxury very few clubs in this league can boast, and this could be a big factor over the season.

That's because the OP is a bitter wee child.

The funniest thing about this thread is the fact that the plank that started it has posted it in the Premier League instead of the Championship! So City aren't going up but Forest are already there???

We will go up this season. We have one of, if not thee strongest team in the Championship, hence why bookies have us as the favourites to win the title. I personally think Nottingham Forest will be challenging for the play offs again. If we go up, then I actually hope you guys go up as well so we can play you in the Premier League. And wipe the floor with you of course

Well, they had a pretty decent team last year and Sven has almost bought an entire new team on top of that so they should be able to bed them in. It's a scatter gun approach but should work, let's say a third don't pay off they still have 2/3's of a team doing well.

Big risk if they don't go up but then again I thought that about Cardiff last season and they seem okay.

I don't. I hope they get relegated to League One again. There's more chance of that happening than them getting promoted.

"I think Leicester have bought well"

I wouldn't say that so much. They have bought some good players but they've thrown in a couple who I don't rate so much. They've also paid way over the odds and christ knows how much on wages. Still it's their money so who cares and it's worth it if they go up.

Maybe they could've bought one right back instead of two and paid some of their old creditors off from before? What's that? No, ok.

LloydX - typical Forest fan, living in the past.

Paid the council back for that Trent End yet?

Erm, yes. Didn't we sell Jenas to pay for that. Novel idea that, selling players to pay debts. There's another option that involves keeping your players, dodging tax and paying back people 10p in the £ but we didn't go for that.

More fool us eh.

Yep more fool you. At least you'll be able to sleep well at night, despite the fact that you'll be playing the likes of Oldham and Stevenage and the dreaded Yeovil again soon.

It's funny that Leicester fans think Forest and Derby dislike them as they're local rivals whereas in reality it's just that they're one of, if not the, most objectionable teams in the league. I see no redeeming qualities. We joke abot Derby and their signings but at least they cut their cloth to suit.

Truly no redeeming features, lousy town, flat-pack stadium (with added ridiculous name feature), nothing of note to have ever been excited about. I can see why you lot are creaming yourselves at the moment, it's like you've woken up and have something to talk about briefly.

Ha ha haaaaaa! I bet your head's hurting like hell after smacking it on your keyboard so many times!!!

By the way Lloydy boy, who started this thread? Oh yes, a Notts Forest fan.

Ho hum.

posted on 3/8/11

The simple ending to this thread is LCFC are going up. Forest and Derby fans can hate / love us as much as they like for whatever reason they like. We will only be concerned with the likes of Aston Villa, Stoke and West Brom next season.

Then you can start tugging their sleeves like an annoying little brother.

More like yanking collars like a dad dissapointed in his failure of a son.

Besides if Forest fans dont consider us local rivals (must be geographically clueless BTW) then why is it when their caches arrive at our ground I see them all jumping up and down banging the windows furiously looking like a bunch of caged animals. Seems pretty fierce to me. It couldnt be that you are putting across your own views as if they are the views of every Forest fan maybe?

posted on 3/8/11

This has always made me chuckle!! They spend so much time and energy desperately trying to convince everyone (including themselves) that we are not rivals......

.....that it ends up having the complete opposite effect!!
