MN.
Too early in the season to 'debate'.
trivial goal keeping preference from me, I'd like to see Bennett carry on in that position,
looking forward to see how the new blokes fit in,
For me. It's got to be 'nil'. against, I'm expecting more from the defense this time round. Solid no nonsense performances being the order of the day.
Midfield for me = a bonus feelgood factor, (or should be) I'm expecting them to rule the roost against all comers in this league.
Forwards/strikers... Not too sure they have what it takes, fingers crossed for the quality cross's from Wah'rd & hmmmm A.N. Other will be enough,
for me. Big Al still has a role to play ! It won't happen with Rhodes up front on his own. & if A Lee isn't to be part of the set up, Why did we buy him, & at such cost in the 1st place...
Talk to you Sat Night(me)/Morning(you).... will 'Yapper' be joining us ?
CU then.
nice article mn. 5 donaldos from me!
Nice article, but no Damian Johnson????
ive a feeling he wont quite be match fit do u?
think hes only played in rotherham game.
oh and club shop are sh ite have i mentioned that??
I gave you a little mention on the Packed Midfield Thread yesterday about your Club Shop Experience, Tez
noone else bothered to sympathise with me and gice a few wirds of wisdom. i wasnt happy.
Huddersfield Town ..........8 (EIGHT)
Rhodes 12, 65, 72
Miller 70 (pen)
Ward 16, 90
P Clarke 57
McDermott 85
Bury .....................1
Sodje 22
Half Time 2-1
Attendance 15,176
Mn, tag Bury in the article and let them know in one of their forums that they can come and debate the match with us on here!
Good article mate, although I think Novak has played his way into the starting 11 as he's our top goalscorer in pre-season and even scored again yesterday. So for me the team Lee Clark will pick is...
Smithies
Hunt Clarke Kay Naysmith
Ward Miller Gobern McDermott
Rhodes Novak
I would personally have Bennett and McCombe in for Smithies and Kay.
cas no cooper robinson or johnson. whats your reasobing behind the team selection?
wtba.. 8-1 would be pretty nice¡
I think Clark will give Kay and Clarke another go for some reason, just a gut feeling, but as I said I think McCombe should be a starter. I think Robinson needs some time to blend with the squad, Johnson from what I know isn't yet match fit, and Miller and Gobern have built a good partnership during pre-season.
Might have to stick my neck on the line here too then and go.....
Smithies
Woods, Clarke, Cooper, Naysmith
Gobern , Johnson
Ward, Miller, Donaldo
Rhodes
Robinson maybe for Miller, but that's my team for Sat
id go with your team too inter but prob replace woods with hunt. only cos ive not heard good reports about him from his preseason games.
Tried tagging Bury but 606 wont let me do it for some reason , and anyway i just went to the Bury board and it has 2 articles, the last one from june . think its just us folks
Darn me old antipodean mucker , how you been, usually time saturday on the board ....i'll have a cuppa and a bacon butty ready
.......
Ovaltine & Hot buttered toast for me champ, = 10pm for the start of the season at least..then it moves onto 11pm ! Drat mutley.
This has come round real quick, love it.
Just between 'us'..! I wonder how many 'ex-pats' we can muster to be on here on a regular basis ?
Yourself,
Me (darn )
Florida... iz ya there buddy ?
Yapper as he introduced himself,
there are a couple of others I know, soz fella's, you evade me at the mo'
Oh ....& Winchy got-a be ex-pat all the way darn in Hamp's ....
Any other's want to join us on match day ?
Greatly looking forward to this game and one which has not come too soon enough for me!
I am undecided in formation, but sticking my neck out, ill plum for 4-2-3-1:
Smithies
Hunt - P Clarke - Cooper - Naysmith
Gobern - Johnson (if fit, otherwise Robinson)
Ward - McDermott - Roberts
Rhodes
Hunt should start for me as ive not heard good reports of Woods. Given how Hunt played last season, he should get '1st dibs' at making the RB slot his own this season!
Hopefully Johnson will be fit, but if not, id bring Robinson in. He played alot last season and should be upto speed fitness wise given his had a full pre season with Bournemouth.
Rhodes for up front and if its not working at half time, bring on Novak and take off one of the wide players.
4-0 Town!!!
4231
Which ever way you want to butter it up they'll be linig up 451 with a bank of 5 in front of the back four with Jordan Rhodes 30 yds down the pitch doing his impression of Nelsons Column.
Town 4 5 1
Bury 1 5 4
Rhodes = the 1
Bury def = the 4
one man against 4, why the fudge would he bother ?
LC...'now jordan lad, I want you to harrass their defenders, all four of 'em, I want you dropping back to help our ten man defence, tracking their runners and I expect some goals from you today, ok Jordan ?"
Jordan " yes , boss (gasps) "
novak has scored a few in pre season so im betting he will be ignored..
we might end up with a load of our midfielders hanging about on the half way line passing the ball sideways, whilst bury have a breather and just watch us going nowhere..
de ja vu???
gotta go with 2 up top and mcdermott playing where he likes..get the ball to any of those 3 and support it and close them down in their half...
if we are favourites lets start like we think we are..

===============================
I get the impression you feel this is an insurmountable task to charge young Jordan with.....whereas some would lead you to believe this is a completely reasonable request
My opinion of the 4-5-1 (4-3-3) formation is it is a bit like when I used to watch my son play in the 9's team. It's all all very compact and both teams move around the field together following the ball. It's all about who's got the attacker with the most flair...
Musn't grumble, cos we went 28 games undefeated, but I would love us to play with Rhodes n' Novak or Donal up front, with Ward, Oscar & Johnson & Robinson in midfield.....
You gotta remember Bury will be no mugs, promoted teams always seem to do fairly well...their away record was 2nd to none, as was the 47 goals they scored away from home too...yeah ok, 2nd Div...but there isn't much diff between top of 2nd and top of 1st eg Bournemouth.
Could be a high scoring game ?
4-3 Town...
