Increased Parachute Payments

Half complain about clubs like Barca and Real getting all the money, half complain about clubs going down getting more money.

We may not be hearing the whole story, as in maybe all clubs are getting more money in payments, it's just the news is focusing on the clubs getting relegated.

At the end of the day, would you prefer only successful clubs getting all the money like Real and Barca? I wouldn't. Spread the money around I say.

The problem with this is as has already been mentioned, the teams getting relegated from the PL are going to have a lot more money compared to others to get back into it.

You see clubs like West Brom, Sunderland, Wolves, Reading regularly going down and going back up again within a few years, these payments would probably reinforce that trend, which is my only issue.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to parachute payments in the coming years, with FFP coming in.

However, in the meantime they provide a necessary safety net against a club going bust - and as usual it would be the unwitting fans who would suffer the most at that.

If you want to manage the impact of being relegated then why don't you actually build a team and manage your finances. It's disgusting the way that clubs like QPR tossed aside the players that EARNED them promotion. Didn't Norwich and Swansea survive with a team of core Championship players before supplementing it with quality players progressively?
