I just can't see the Trust working unless we want to spend the rest of our days playing Accrington Stanley. The fans just don't have enough money to pick up the pieces if Venky's bail. Conversely, if they can work some sort of symbiotic relationship out of it that could be ideal for everyone involved.

I agree with RTM's sentiments, there isn't anyway that a fanbase ownership of the club could work, we don't have a hundred Jack Walkers and we don't have the fanbase size of clubs like Barcelona.

However, if there was a way that the trust could incorporate some wealthy businessmen in to their takeover (I think it was Seneca or something similar) then it might just work.

Nevertheless, what any owners need to do is to do some urgent downsizing of our expenses and look to reshape the club in a way that will be self sustainable.

Why couldn't it work? I mean in the short term there would be drastic cost cutting measures needed. But in the long term we'd simply have to do what most other clubs have to, only spend on wages and transfer fees what we make in revenue. Granted that wouldn't be a lot, but its a myth to think Venkys are spending anything now. Anything Rovers have cost since they took over has been financed by selling N'Zonzi, Bunn, Hoilett, Yakubu, Samba, Kalinic and Jones. Flogging all your best players to raise cash ain't difficult, I'm sure a fans consortium could do it just as easily, but at least they wouldn't hire a succession of **** managers to takeover whats left and use an insane Malayasian prat to run everything else.

I'd rather spend the rest of our days playing Accrington Stanley than be owned by Venkys, they will take us there soon enough anyway if they stay in charge.

We could probably live within our means if we were content to be a Championship/League 1 side but still get attendances of at least 20,000 regularly.

However, if we want to get back in to the Premiership and stay there, we'll have to take some substantial losses.

What would Venky's have to lose at the minute? Shaw is probably on his way out (maybe Agnew might get the boot as well). If they get Rovers Trust to find the new directors rewarding them with a seat on the board they'd get loads of positive press from it.

The Rovers Trust don't have anywhere near the money to buy the club but they could probably take a significant stake, 5% maybe.

Do whatever it takes to bring Williams back.

Abduction?

I'm not sure I even want to be in the premier league. Writing off 10 games a season against the bigger boys, going in to games fearing a spanking. I quite enjoy the unknowns of the Championship and think a few seasons rebuilding at this level will do us good (football wise, not so financially).

Is it possible to separate football fortunes from financial fortunes though? I see the Championship more as a dinghy floating out to sea and with every year that passes you get further away and have less chance of getting back to land (the Premiership).

Looking at a big enough sample of data, I reckon the statistics would prove that the size of a club's wage bill has a significantly bigger effect on where it is in the football pyramid than a manager or chairman does. Without the ability to sustain a decent sized wage bill, which we won't have if we spend much longer down here, I can't see us getting promoted again for a long time.
