After reading the title, I thought the contents of this thread was going to be another for the Emma Watson thread.

Annoyed I missed the game, have been a fan of Shinji for a while and feel he can really take us to another level if played correctly.

Whether Ferguson has the courage to play him ahead of Rooney from now and change our style to a more fluid high tempo passing game on is another matter.

After tonight's game I wonder what will be tweeted about on the Shinji Kagawa parody Twitter account ....

I like watching Shinji play, especially in the hole. (That may sound kind of wrongly implied!!! )

He has beautiful skills to show off.

I missed the game, could anyone give a good assessment of Kagawa's game?

I've always felt he would work best with players like Cleverly and Welbeck in the team, players that are neat and tidy on the ball and confident at playing at a higher tempo.

Kagawa had a decent game. Starting from the tunnel he was no 6 on the line behind Jones and in front of evra.
He shooks hands quickly while putting on a dazzling Japanese smile to all and sundry.
After the rituals of handshake : he stripped in all his glory to reveal what he and the other teammates were sporting.
The west ham thugs of diame,Nolan and one other pony tailed who name I fail to recall hassled and harried. and so for the first ten minutes we hardly had the ball. They went up and scored after a Mr. Rooney pass failed its navigation.
Deserved goal.
Then the kagawa show started, good passing, short , medium and long. He was on fire. Too quick too handle. Too low to be stopped.
The equalizer came soon after. AA quick counter and he showed skills Valencia can only dream lying on the lakes of quito. He feinted when everyone thought he will cross and in the process dragged out 4 hammer including jussi and so a simple tapping for Valencia which does not mask his average game.
In the second half he tailed due to shortness of fitness.
But wait something was to happen. He saw his number up with chico warming up. And he knew he had to impress fergie at the edge of the big D. He took a pass and beat two players before unleashing a ferocious left footer (advantage of using both legs) that bounced off the sticks, cruelly it was not going in.
But RVP had the presence of mind to ignore the blind assistant and guide it home.
The ball needed guidance not power.

We didn't get going at all really until the half hour mark in the first half so going forward we were pretty quiet but Kagawa when he had the ball looked our brightest player I thought apart from one or two misplaced passes and proved that when he linked up with RVP and cleverly shimmied past a West Ham player in the box and gifted Valencia a tap in with a low pass across goal. One thing he doesn't lack is composure in the box.

In the 2nd half he was very good, especially when he moved central when Rooney went off unsurprisingly because his touch for the 2nd goal and the way he quickly shifted the ball to get the shot away on the edge of the area in such a tight space with bodies around him was superb. His shot really deserved to go in.

He is just the polar opposite to Rooney. Intelligence when in possession, awareness of what's around him, composure on the ball in tight spaces and has the knowledge of when to release and when to retain the ball. Tonight there were definite signs that he's really starting to get used to playing at United and for me, he needs to be given a run of games playing off the striker until the end of the season now. Next season he'll hopefully be firing on all cylinders if he's given the right platform to perform.

I do agree that he would relish playing alongside Cleverley and Welbeck who can pass and move and play quick one touch football. There was one game in particular this season but I can't remember what game it was exactly where Kagawa and Cleverley looked to be on a similar wavelength and linked up well with each other.

Still puzzled at the complete disregard of Nani, it is sad to see, another player who I think could work well with Kagawa.

I just don't know what to think of Rooney at the moment. I just hope if something does happen during the summer, either him signing a new contract or if he does leave, that it doesn't drag out during the whole window because I can't be assed with that.

There was a moment tonight when Valencia lost the ball and the camera panned to Sir Alex who was shaking his head.

I just shouted at the TV "You should be starting Nani!"

Valencia though did have a decent 2nd half. Nowhere near his best but a bit better at least. Put in 3 or 4 really dangerous balls which is a start.
