A bruiser to compliment Luiz, we don't even need to go for the obvious (aka Subotic) for zhit loads of money, surely there's a new Vidic lerking about a lower Eastern European league somewhere.

Obviously the standard was a lot lower than that of the premiership, but Omeruo did look the part at afcon. Comfortably dealt with Drogba when Nigeria played Ivory Coast and was solid throughout. Big risk to promote though

Subotic isn't an improvement anyway bubbles. He's alright but a bit of a dope. You already have cahill for that.

A lot would depend on Luiz I guess and his maturity/concentration levels

I say NOOOOO for new CB...Luiz is our best CB in current campaing....yes he may have a few bad games from time to time however name any footballer who is on top level whole season....terry was injurted majority of the season resp wasnt fit but after good preseason he gets in his best, iva and cahill are good back ups for us...we have luxury in this department compar to other teams...azpi is doing a great job as a RB and if neccesery Ivanovic can play there...only problem is LB when cole is out for while. I dont think Bertrand is the one to replace Cole...he has not football brain as a LB...

we neen new RW bcouse moses is crap...new CM and if torres will be sold then new striker....with 70 mil summer spending badget we can doit lol

Love Hummels, he and Luiz would

but probably best to bleed in a young un' so Omerou or Kalas to be 4th choice next season.

We don't need bodies but do need quality to sure up. I really like Subotic and he could partner Luiz. Chalob for midfield but Kalas will be good. Brana is good squad player, Cahill I like but as mentioned isn't so solid with Luiz and may go in favour of Kalas down the line.

Their the same type of player, that partnership would epically flop.

Pheonix

Even if you factor out that he doesn't play well with Luiz, Cahill is not good enough to be anything above a squad player anyway.

Bring back Kalas for the 2014/2015 season to replace Terry

Both are very good all round would be a fantastic pairing imo.

How has Kalas been this season?

posted on 17/4/13

Kalas seems like an Ivanovic replacement given that he's been playing RB this year.

City did very well to snap up Nastasic

The loan reports suggest to me that he's just been solid for Vitesse, which is good considering he's been playing out of position

I'd agree with Kalas' eventual role

If we're going to consider buying a new CB I'd say best wait till summer 2014

Is Bruma still on the books or was he sold?

Still on loan at Hamburg, played (and scored) in a 9-1 loss at Bayern Munich.

Bruma is absolutely horrendous, needs to sold sharpish.

Terry will be back to being number one under new manager and will duly sign a new contract.

We don't need a new CB in the summer unless Ivanovic leaves.

Even if Ivanovic leaves I wouldn't mind drafting in Omeruo/Kalas

I'd like to buy if the right opportunity came along.

We are so far away from the quality defense we had in 2005 I am really surprised that some fans do not see the need to bring more quality into our back 4.

We have not been anywhere close to matching (in their prime)a back 4 of Paulo, Terry, Ricky, Gallas and subsequently Cole for donkey's years.

If we want to become a serious team fighting for top honours we must replicate this quality in our back line.

It is hard as fans to know the level Terry can return to, at times I’ve really thought he was spent then last night he turned in a solid display which gives me hope. I suspect his poor form has more been down to returning from injury at a time when every game has been almost ‘must win’ and he hasn’t really had the chance to be eased back in. He clearly won’t be back to his very best but I can see him having a least another season as first choice.

Luiz improves with every game, a shoe in for the first XI now after so iritic displays earlier in his Chelsea career, Terry and him compliment each other well.

Brana has played well in recent weeks and has a good attitude, a player I like in the squad. In my opinion he takes time to settle when moved between full-back and centre half which is shame as he’d be the perfect utility man were it not for him needing 2 or 3 games to get back to his best when switched. Still only 29 and I player I think we should keep as long as he’s happy not to be guareteed a game every week, with the amount of games we play shouldn’t be a problem.

Cahill was a good buy at the right time but doesn’t seem to play well with Luiz which limits his use. I’d keep him while Kalas is still improving on loan then would let him go to make way for the talented youngster.

Terry – first team next year then start to phase him out, can see him playing 25 games a year for the next three years and can hopefully be a good tutor and leader to call upon.
Luiz – Has improved so much that he’s the first defender on the team sheet these days.
Brana – Squad player.
Cahill – Make way for Kalas in time.

Kalas – Big future but no need to rush him back while he’s getting games on loan, perhaps bring him back to the PL for loan.
Bruma – Sell, never going to make it.
Chalobah – Midfield for him, will occupy a deep sitting position, can see him in the first team in two years.

As I mentioned I don’t think we need a body to make up squad depth but we could do with a quality centre half good enough to improve the first XI and I think Subotic could fill that role and start alongside Luiz, in that case I’d possibly sell Cahill sooner and Kalas would later join in place of Terry or Brana in a couple of years.
