Welcome to the board LRF. It certainly wouldn't be a bad team, but I think I'd personally stick with Mertesacker and Koscielny over Albiol. Their partnership is paying dividends for us. If we were to get someone like Ogbonna, however, it would be worth moving things around.

Other than that your prediction isn't too far off that of most of the gooners here

I doubt we can afford to sign Lewandowski as a bench warmer.

I don't think that LRF was suggesting that we'll sign all 7 of them...Only one from each category

Maybe challengers in 2/3 years possibly

Arsenal would have to annihilate their transfer record to sign Jovetic, probably for Lewandowski, too. Capoue is a meh signing.

Forgot to add that Albiol is a pointless signing. The current defenders need a bit of stability, not more players to try and form partnerships with.

I'd love something like Griezmann, Jovetic and Ogbonna. It'd give us an important lift in every area of the pitch apart from midfield, which is our lowest priority right now.

Mert, Kos, Verm cant fight it out. Sagna has proved to be a good 4th choice CB if we keep him. Him and Jenks can fight it out for RB, Gibbs and Monreal and fight for LB. Throw in a few youth players and I dont think our defence is a priority. A truly world class striker and DM should be number one priority.

Let's say we have the rumoured £70 million to spend.

Mignolet - £8-10 million
Gustavo - £20 million
Aubameyang - £12-15 million
Jovetic - £25 million

----------------- Mignolet ---------------
- Bac/Jenk -- Mert -- Kos -- Mon/Gib -
---------- Gustavo -- Jack/Rambo ------
--- Aubergine -- Santi ---- Oxlade -------
------------------- Jovetic --------------------

I agree that the need for a new CB isn't too great if Verm stays, as Sagna can be emergency 4th choice.

I think Arsenal desperately need a good winger, the closest we have is Gervinho.

Walcott and Podolski are fine wingers Giroulski + thanks for the introduction.

Lewandowski's price would be around £22M as I do support Dortmund and that is the Realistic price anyone will pay for him with Jovetic similar and wages aren't far apart either so it's not as if your splashing the cash just on Lewandowski.

I don't think Gustavo will move TSB because he is starting at Bayern Munich and is on fine form and is keeping Martinez out of the team but not lately so big wages needed on him IMO whilst Capoue on about £30,000 a week, could easily price him away for about £50,000 a week.

They're fine inside forwards, but they are not wingers. Buying Griezmann would give us a lot more tactical flexibility.

Giroulski, Greizmann would be difficult to get especially if Real Sociedad get CL football, they're on the rise now and Greizmann is a top class winger and would take £20M - £25M to turn him away from Spain IMO.

Hello LRF

Long time no see, unlucky with Reading. I'm sure with Adkins at the helm you'll be back in the Prem in no time

Agree with Giroulski about no wingers. I think we need someone in the Hleb mould, i.e. a technical winger. Could move Santi outwide and get someone like Eriksen or Draxler in.

We also need a defensive midfielder imo. Someone like Bender or Capoue. However that'll probably mean one of Frimpong/Coquelin's Arsenal career will be over.

A striker is needed. I don't rate Lewandowski myself, but Jovetic would fill the gap left by RVP. Technical, good finisher, also fairly strong, creative. If we sign him, I'll have a lot more trust in Wenger.

A utility man is needed at the back. Someone who can play RB, CB, LB and defensive mid, that will be good. We have been linked with Kouyate, never seen him play (beast on FIFA), but he sounds like that kind of player.

Sadly I agree. But I think we need someone of that calibre here at Arsenal. I'd prefer James Rodriguez over him, but Antoine would do just fine.

If we do have a £70m transfer kitty, ignoring wages, then spending £20m on him wouldn't be too much of a bad thing.

Yeah I expect Capoue to be signed. If rumours are to be believed we tried to bargain with Toulouse on deadline day but balked at the asking price. So I'm pretty sure we will go back to them in the summer and drive the price down a little. Plus the price should be naturally reduced as its the summer window and Toulouse will have plenty of time to garner a replacement. I haven't watched much of him personally, I've heard he's pretty adept at CB which is a positive.

I would like us to sign a wide man too. Agree we lack quality there.

Fabtastic, How you doing yourself mate?

A bit unfortunate for us but I hope we consolidate in the Championship next season and build our way back up soon enough.

Lars Bender between £12M - £115M rumours suggest which is an absolute steal, you'd do well to get him for that price but that is outrageous! Very underrated at that price, he is who you need. Capoue would do nicely.

Draxler same price as well of around £15M so that's £30M gone + £20M on ST Jovetic which is £50M gone on the perfect players, maybe another £20M on a WC CB?

J. Rodriguez would be an outstanding signing Giroulski but unlikely with who he has been rumoured with unfortunately.

TSB, Capoue cheaper at something like £10M, very good DM, quality player, but bender at £15M max price is a steal, rate him highly, quality DM, he would be > Capoue IMO.

A winger's job is get down the wing and cross the ball, arsenal don't really benefit from crosses since nobody makes any runs into the box. Somebody like chamberlain who can cut inside or go wide will be immense when he finds consistency

I'm doing well.

Like the others have said another CB probably isn't needed. For me Mertesacker and Kos are our best partnership.

I personally hate Vermaelen goes, and we get a back up CB whocan play across the line.

Sagna will most leave, big ask of Jenks to take the leading role. Bellerin will probably be back up.

HMNIG, That is a perfect comment IMO.

posted on 22/4/13

Yeah, Rodriguez is certainly out of our reach bar Wenger pulling off transfer wizardry. But my point stands, we need a player of that ilk.

Lewandowski would be great for Arsenal, of that I'm sure. But it could well come down to money, not specifically the transfer fee, but wages and add-on's. If Chelsea are interested (as reported), then I think they'll get him.

I've said more times than I care to remember, but as far as I'm concerned, irrespective of his age, I'd love Arsenal to get their hands on David Villa! Ravishing!
