Not sure that's true cantona if you look at both tables and the results. In the UK we usually only see Barca or real but their results over the season and not too different from the two manc sides.

Goals easily isn't that competitive. Ok granted they are two of the greatest players ever but messi would not score than many in England
There are more goals in la liga than in the epl all through the respective leagues. Thus messi scoring the number of goals he does is not unexpected. As another example, Ronaldo scored 30 odd goals a season in the epl (for a time), in a less focused role than he has for real.
I think that it is just because messi is simply so good that he scores the goals he does, and he would do so in any league.
