germany would smash us anyway

Bundesliga only has 18 teams involved, no league cup games, no replays so Bundesliga teams play less games than other teams in Europe

thats what benefits the german teams the most, england is the only major league that has 2 big domestic cup competitions

Now with Bayern buying the best talents in Germany they could win CLs back to back for years to come

They will have no competitors, they will have complete power

Is this a new thing in Germany?
Did England have winter breaks and only 1 cup in the mid and late 00s?

All of the big teams who are in Europe play their second team in the League cup anyway.

English football is based on long balls and running around the pitch for no reason. Bayern preserve energy and know how to press effectively

I think the fact Bayern and Dortmund are really good at football is what benefits them.

As DJ said, it didn't make a difference when the English sides were dominating Europe in mid to late 2000's.

All that's happened is the English sides have declined and many of the European sides have improved.

That can't be it DTKF, no one is better than the English teams! They can't be better, it is just that they get time off. Bas tards.

Not knocking BVB/Bayern 2 very strong teams but there's no denying they have massive physical advantage over everyone else post January

I think that's why Lukasz Podolski perhaps Shinji Kagawa have struggled he's not used to the intensity of playing week in week out

kagawa has come on stronger since the turn of the year, put in some eye catching performances over the last 2 months

Kagawa scored a hat trick against Norwich in early May, and has looked fantastic virtually every time he has played Don't think it is anything to do with the break.

Podolski has played well but he struggles to play 90mins

Podolski been playing in Germany for years he's used to that 5 week winter break

posted on 26/4/13

Podolski is injured and has been carry the injury for a long time, nothing to do with games played, as in fact his minutes played does not compare to many Bayern players.

I do think there is something in what he's saying.

But I'm not sure whether you can say conclusively that Dortmund and Bayern are fitter because of it.

Logic would suggest so. But I'm not sure it makes that big a difference.

Which wouldn't have effected his early season form at all, and I'm assuming it hasn't just been since Christmas he's been hot/cold.

Podolski struggled to play 90 minutes in the first half of the season.

Well there's that theory debunked then D'J. Also, Arsenal beat Bayern in one leg in the CL, heavily.

The game is faster in England more physical/Intense refs aren't as protective

posted on 26/4/13

I'm sure something like this was done after the England mauling in the last World Cup and it was actually proven the German side spent more cumulative minutes on the pitch the previous season than the England team. Also, don't Spain have a winter break as well? With the massive squads Barca and Madrid have and the rotating they do, they have absolutely no excuse.

DJ I thought Podolski was injured as well but he isn't Hes not being picked

So now it isn't the break, but the refs and style of play in England....

John he is injured, and will have surgery in the summer. This is fact.

Which hasn't changed in the last decade, where we've been extremely successful on the whole
