Forest to Lose Another on a Free?

Bound to happen, he's a fairly selfish lad in all accounts whether that be shooting from 40 yards on the field when others are in better space, 80% of the time he barely breaks a sweat and 20% he can be brilliant. I'd imagine he'll flitter away in the premiership after half a dozen games and then spend the rest of the season counting his money on the bench!! Billy didnt seem to worried about losing him in an intevriew earlier in the season so I think as far back as then the writing was on the wall, not worth worrying about as he'll no doubt treble his wages at Cardiff then get relegated next year and people will hardly remember him!

What am I thinking? We are going up anyway!!!

Don't want to lose him. Best player at the club on his day.

I would like to keep him as well. I am sure there is a good reason for not renewing yet. Probably to keep him on his toes during the end of season push!

Players often seem to be able to find ‘that bit extra’ in similar circumstances!!

If BD wants to keep him at the end of the season, I’m sure Fawaz will put together a reasonable deal.

If you think about it, would any player renew now - when there is still a (admittedly outside) chance of promotion and, hence, potentially significantly better terms to be had?!

I would imagine an offer went to him but he's rejected it. Its very common as we all know for players to want to wait until the end of the season before deciding which 99/100 is code for saying I've been tapped up and me and my agent are waiting to see how much money I can make elsewhere?? Simple football economics!! No major loss, great player on his day which is usally one 20 minute spell every 5 games!!

I gave up on Lewis a long time ago.

Rev, he will not be another JJ, he will not play a quarter of the games in the PL that JJ has played, and as for getting in the England squad - don't make me laugh. His career trajectory will probably be more similar to Giles Barnes.

He is not one of the best players at the club; one of the most talented yes but you need more than talent to be a good player. He has never learned how to use his talent for the good of the team.

Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at the sheep dip.

My views on lewis have gone from frustration to apathetic in the last season or so. If he stays, oh well, i guess we can use him a a super sub. If he goes, oh well, we can bring in a player that can make a difference over more than 10 minutes spells and is a more 'season long' player that a form dependent player.

I'd just like to note, lewis will not cut it in the premiership. His angle at this level is to come on when the defense has been ground down, and they're tired. Finding space in a tired defense and taking pot shots. In the premiership defenses are more prone to last the whole 90 mins. In part, thats what makes a premier defender from a championship one.

We should aspire for better anyway, another overrated fan favorite.

Too often though that's a Thursday.

If he, or anyone else thinks the grass is greener anywhere else then GOODBYE, don't forget to not keep in touch.

I do agree, but I think it's a shame he has such a shoddy attitude. He's had patches at the club where he's looked class. You don't score goals like those he scored in his best season without being a very very good player. The Ipswich goal! Jesus. I was kind of hoping Billy would get him back to his best - it was the one reason I was optimistic about the dwarf's return. And Lewis has certainly been better since Billy's return.

Mr Happy

Plus i'm in two minds about lewis, as you have said on his day he is by far the best player no doubt.

However it rarely is his day a lot of the times and when it isn't he can be quite selfish and really dosn't do much.

I think he should stay at Forest if he is offered a contract, we have seen that only a very particular manager can get the best out of lewis and if he goes to the PL as you said after a few games you will hardly hear of him again!

Overall though I would rather keep him

I often think Lewis should throw his hat in the ring and declare himself a striker, the in the hole role. Great eye for goal, lazy and doesnt track back, thats a striker if ever I saw one so dunno how he's ended up in midfield all these years??

What's with the Mr Happy jibe? That was a pretty happy post, I thought.

posted on 2/5/13

Yeah it was ok, just remember I haven't said Mr Happy in a long time

See you still had to say dwarf though, laugh if your only like 5 ft 2!

Didn't the WWTB start off by playing Lewis in a striking role? I think that turned out be to be a bit of a damp squib.

Is he not our top scorer? His goals per games ration would make our strikers cower for cover. Compared to Simon Cox he's practically up there with Messi

posted on 2/5/13

Don't get why people want to keep him. Fed up of him.

Selfish and lazy. He nearly lost us the game at Millwall he was that poor, giving possession away, shooting instead of giving it to Cox.

If it wasn't for Lewis we wouldn't be within a chance of making the play offs. He scored 6 in 6 during our great run so surprised by the negative comments. Yes he's frustrating and lazy but I think he's had a decent season considering he's spent a lot of time on bench

posted on 2/5/13

maybe i'm wrong but didn't mcgugan score 3 penaltys of those 6 goals if he goes best of luck to him if he stays wahaay whatever he decides thanks for everything lewis

We could say the same about Lansbury, Reid, Majewski, Guedioura. Anyone really. But because he got a few dramatic late goals, it boosts his importance somehow. The fact is, even in that run of goals he wasn't performing well. When he got his start against Burnley he was absolutely abysmal. Would prefer to just get rid and get someone in who cares.

If he does sign for us, it's because we're his last resort, that much is obvious.

posted on 2/5/13

I hope he re-signs for us. He's one of those enigmatic players and guarantee if he moves he'll have a cracking career somewhere else of which we'll be continually reminded.

Like Perch?

Wow he was awful, cost us the playoff game vs Blackpool then Newcastle go and sign him
