Annoyed here in Africa sack the board !
Nuns mate I don't know what the time difference is in the part of Africa you are in but you are on well past midnight here when I am in my onion bag. Try 2 hours earlier when I will be monitoring the board.
A lot of rebuilding to be done at Bolton in the next few months; no team deserves a top 6 place when they concede so many goals as we have; that said, it's a massive missed opportunity this last season, as the overall quality of teams in the Championship has been poor; whichever 3 teams eventually go up ... they will be the 3 to come back down next season (barring someone spending 25-30mill - and even than, it will be touch n' go).
Very best wishes to Kevin Davies Will always be THE Wanderers Legend in my book .... Last time I saw him play against us .. he knocked a hat trick in for little Chesterfield ...please go somewhere else other than the Championship, Kev! Hopefully, a future Whites manager in the making
Firstof, i think the standard in the Championship hasn't been poor, it has been flat.
By which i mean that the teams at the top end of the table have been comparatively weak, and the teams at the bottom have been comparatively strong, in relation to previous years.
It has taken fewer than average points to make the playoffs and more than average points to stay up.
It's always an unpredictable league compared to the PL but this has been pronounced this season.
I do think you're right to say it is a missed opportunity for one of the better teams though, and right to be pessimistic about the prospects for next season of the three promoted teams.
I think your take on Championship standards this season is a sound one, LH. I certainly think it will be tougher to achieve automatic promotion next season, than it was this. It's been entertaining for the most part though, which is surely better than being overun every week, at the wrong end of the Premiership!
Its been a very entertaining season this and I expect more of the same next.the only thing wrong with it is the financial gulf between the premier league and the championship.also the TV coverage is rubbish.Bolton have been on sky only twice all season.getting 1 minute highlights on the fls and nothing at all in midweek is soul destroying really.also will have to continue to toss up between gmr and tower FM for commentaries for away games I can't make. Garth I'm depressed.
Chin up, benny.
It's not supposed to be easy being a Bolton fan, as you know, mate.....
I've actually enjoyed the Champo this season. Despite us not being that good in it for half of it.
Like the team my fondness for the league started slowly - I did think "what the heck is this rubbish?" or words to that effect. But I think that atmosphere was just the start of the season and the fact I'd just turned up from work.
Nah the Championship is totally nuts and brilliantly unpredictable and long may it continue - just so long as we smash Blackpool to win the league as sweet revenge.
Evening all from sunny Tunisia, still raw after yesterday:Hope everyone ok,just worrying about next season now and the club think amergeddon has finally arrived, will crucify us this!
Nuns- that is a bit of leap, we will still get all the same income as we have had this year (premiership parachute payment), are trimming the squad of high earners (SKD) and have a young and exciting manager who if had been in place at the beginning of the season we would have got playoffs at a minimum.
Get yourself some beer and bask under the tunisian sun- next season i think we will be fine.
