Absolutely nothing to lose.

If it works he's on a stage where anything could happen, and if doesn't work, he'll still have his admirers in the UK to fall back on...if he escapes before sleeping with da fishes...

Good to see. Hope he manages to go somewhere in Europe.

Scotlands best shot at a slightly better national team is young players playing and gaining experience in continental leagues.

But Russell is eyeing a potential move further afield, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Scots like Graeme Souness, Steve Archibald, Murdo MacLeod, John Collins and Paul Lambert, who enjoyed success on the continent.

6 Scots that had a successful career abroad. That’s a pitiful number when you think of it. You'd think mainland Europe was on the opposate side of the world rather than on our doorstep. Scots work everywhere on the planet but not if your a fitba player. Never understood that...

Just to add to the list..

Rambo and Brian O'Neill..

We're all heart and little technical talent, the first touch/control in the SPL is atrocious compared to continentals, Rino Gattusso made his name by what he learned in Scotland...

Germany is the place to go.

They train harder than anyone else, drill technique into you, teach a great work ethic.

If he goes anywhere it should be there.

Aye we do play 100 mph but I think the younger generation have developed a better first touch because of that. Put them in a foreign league and I reckon they might flourish wi more time on the ball.
I’d never want them to lose the in yer face attitude we have. Sometimes feel we don’t use that strength enough when playing foreign teams. Press the game for 90 minutes as we’ve seen that teams expect time on the ba’. A team game of pressing the ba’ tho as doing it individually just gives the impression o’ a team of headless chickens. I genuinely feel we don’t plaY to our strengths enough. Heart as you say and determination. GET IN TAE THUM!!

Agree Juke. I seen Bayern and Dortmund for the first time during the 2 semi's and I can see why people were bumming them up. Played the game at a tempo for 90 minutes and blew the Spanish away
