Give the list to Helen Flanagan? Can she read now?

Who cares...?

Re the OP

Great to see he's being proactive, I just hope if he brings 5 or 8 in certain parties don't refer to him as a liar..!!

He's released ten and there'll be more shown the door.

Mr McDermott appears to be doing the right things, it is now down to GFH to back him. This is going to be an interesting summer.

Eric - I care. If its one or t'other then I need to be confident that they get the names right when pursuing our targets. Imagine the problems if Mr McDermott asks for a player from Bournmouth and Helen misreads it as Portsmouth?

Only surprised that Mr Warnock hasn't come up with that excuse for his acquisitions last time around.

Seriously, yes, a very interesting Summer ahead but then it always is for a whole variety of reasons.

I'd like to read her...! In braille.

I wonder how many speedsters are in that list ?

About the right number. But, it's all about the calibre and whether the board can back BM. I have faith that if they do, BM will bring in the right players.

Not the dross NW did - Though in part this was down to limited funds.

I agree that GFH has its part to play but modern day contracts (outside of Leeds United) have generated more opportunity to get players for nothing (other than players' own fees and agents) and I suspect we could readily improve without spending.

NW had more money than you realise. He just wasted it and often didn't play the right players.

There's always some good free agents available, it just depends on whether you get the right ones early on, so we don't need to be paying loads of in transfer fees.

7 seems about right - we have a small squad and no real options from the bench. A few quality attacking players are the key though, that's what we've lacked this season. If we've conceded, we've never really looked like we could claw back and win.

The problem is we just don't offer competitive contracts, just ask Max Gradel, Howson and B Johnson....

Or if we do, it's too little too late, as in the case of Snodgrass, when they'd already sold off all our quality and there was no logical footballing reason for the player to stick around.

I understand Shaun Harvey is an accountant and wants to keep a budget and a wage cap, but really this summer I hope he finally wakes the fck up and realises 2 or 3 players on top wages is infinitely more valuable to us in terms of potential financial reward than 7 journeymen on lge1 wages.

They keep making the same fkn mistakes every summer, quantity over quality all in the name of a fkn wage cap and it drives me insane!

It's easy to see why mcd is promising nothing to the fans and hasnt transfer listed any senior playrs at this point because he knows he might still get anbeutely no change out the board this summer when it comes to say offering a good contract to a top winger or striker that we desperately need.

He says 7 targets, but I'd say we'll get 1 or 2 of those if we're lucky, given the way this club likes to conduct their summer transfer business.....

Only 7?

Very well played by BM.

Gives his targets straight away and makes it public in very diplomatic way.

So much better than previous years where we heard all sorts of excuses from agents on holiday, no point paying wages in summer etc etc and then we ended up with the dregs of the dregs.

No pressure on him now all pressure on GFH, time for them to step up and deliver.

As rsl says though, is 7 enough?

Eric completely agree

Therefore, we need to ask Luciano Becchio instead

About 7 changes seems okay to me. Fewer than that doesn't alter the squad sufficiently, any more and you risk early season bedding in a new team - which may happen anyway.

To be honest 4 or 5 GOOD players and i'd be happy. Combine them with what we have and we should progress - afterall, building for the future is what we want from BM.

Fingers crossed that GFH back him and the silence from them is just shrewd business, rather than open boasting of what we'll be doing this summer.

Last poster, please define happy as you see it.

Eric,

I made that original statement. The addition of 4 or 5 good players represents a step forwards as a squad/club for me. Too much average brought in, not enough game changers.

If we can retain those 4 or 5, then add again with similar quality next summer, if we don't attain promotion - then i believe our overall squad for the second go at promotion with BM will be a rival for any in the CCC.

I'm prepared, as long as i see improvement, to be quite patient with BM. I want long term stability, not bang then crash management. Give me that and i'm a happy fan in the stands each game............

P.S. The following isn't disloyal or lacking in ambition. We're light years away from competing for the top 6 in the Prem. We simply don't have the financial muscle or infrastructure to do it. It'll take time and patience, or a GFH with seriously deep pockets, to gate crash the higher levels. Promotion, stability and maybe some cup runs in our next few seasons is awesome in my books - given where we've been the last few years.

Spot on VOF, I think the key is giving fans some visibility of what the plan is.

After 8 years of empty rhetoric from Bates, fans need something to buy into.
