One thing is for sure, if he hadn't signed we would instead have been subject to a long post about how the board/wenger are terrible human beings for letting go of our best players, backed up by previous Walcott stats spun with a positive angle.
I'm not even a fan of Walcott, but even I recognise how much pressure the board was put under to keep him - ironically by the type of poster who is now complaining about it.
Yeh I don't even agree he deserved 100k a week but you can say that for a number of players. At least the board made a statement and at the moment, he's the only player looking like putting the ball in the net.
Good article powerking. Considering Walcott is a winger and our top scorer and assister he should be respected, but there are always a few cretins who will have a different view. For what it's worth I believe he is worth his wages.
His work-rate off the ball isn't acceptable

I value people with different opinions on him that give an honest argument. I can't stand fans that have already decided he's cack therefore there gonna go with that judgement even when he has a really good game.
Hello, Just to add my opinions. It is still without doubt whatsoever that Mr Walcott is a average championship player. No skill whatsoever, cannot pass, cannot cross, cannot dribble, cannot control a football, cannot head a ball, do I need to carry on, he also cannot finish, most of his goals are mishits and most goalies are fooled by his lack of ability to connect with a ball properley. End of.
What was i saying about ignorent and stubborn supporters.
Yet he's our top contributor Garwood, so what does that say for the rest of our team then.
I love Walcott always have and always will do. He is a key player for us. Yes at times he can be frustrating and anonymous but that isn't always his fault. Sometimes he isn't given the best of service.
20 goals this season enough said. Without him I highly doubt we would be in the top 4. It also annoys me when people constantly slate him yet defend Gervinho when he is a headless chicken majority of the time.
Teams would kill for a goal scoring winger and we have one.
No he's not the most gifted footballer in the league, but he produces more than any others of the current crop. You do not need to be technically amazing to be a good footballer, look at someone like Mario Gomez for Bayern. Absolute stink of a touch and no set of skills at all, but so important for Bayern and Germany because what does he do,he scores goals!
He is also the only player that brings pace to our slow game at the moment, without him our style of play would be even more side to side than it is now. I couldn't care whether his contribution to 34 goals came against the top teams or relegation battlers, the point is he has got us 34 goals!
How many other players in the league can say the same....

This is spot on
I said a similar thing to this on the other article.
Walcott should not divide opinions like he does.
Decent player? Yes
World class? No
Worth 100k p/w ? No
Were we right to pay it? Yes.
And whatever the manc's on here might like to claim, if we'd let his contract run down you can guarantee Fergie would of been in for him
Cheer Castor Troy
now imagine we had two players doing this from either side and with full backs who commit the opposition, it would give the likes of santi, jack and tomas all the space they would need to ping the ball about and start taking some shots. We don't shoot much from outside the box now because there are 10 players behind the ball usually
