We will need more substance than just blind optimism.
I've just watched Rocky give me a break 😛
I'm not keen on O'Neill - he is a motivator and little else these days. Once players realise that they are being manipulated, they revert to the sorry footballing condition they were in before he arrived.
We need more than that - we need somebody who is both tactically astute and isn't afraid to kick loafers into touch.
Mr Lambert did just that at Villa, sticking to his principles and not being shy about casting Bent into the outer darkness.
army wolf,
I can't see us getting MON, or in either side being too interested in each other, but stranger things have happened in football.
if nothing else, it would lead to Armageddon on JA606 following WITSS tipping of o'neill
I'm annoyed by fools on here that want to take a risk on upcoming managers again....
Darren Ferguson
Eddie Howe
Karl Robinson
We don't need another flash Harry making the right noises and not knowing how to handle one of the toughest dressing rooms in football.
We will turn to experienced heads:
Steve Coppell
Neil Warnock
Alan Curbishley
Gary Megson
Paul Sturrock
Sean O'Driscoll
MON 25/1 for what? Busy day in London all day and 6 hours work when I got home, anything happened have we signed someone. Saw Morgan on the big screen as I was dashing through Euston earlier, oh hang on....
oldgoldilox,
yr late but there's still plenty of time to crack open the champagne and celebrate along with the rest of us...
saunders out!!! still sounds good
Dont know what to think, part of me thinks not fair should have been given more time, another remembers the bizarre tactics and even stranger post match analysis.
Saunders seemed to be playing a cariacature of a big shot Mourinho type manager at a big club. Christ this is a bloody farce!
Disagree pundit, regurgitating thr same crop of managers doesn't progress clubs long term, there is a reason the same names always seem available, its because they have short shelf lifes at each club.
The sacking of the last three managers has been completely justified but sooner rather than later we need to stick with someone. But the problem has been in the recruitment. None of the last three managers have been anywhere near as capable as McCarthy and none of them would have justified being given longer.
The decision to place Thelwell in charge of the recruitment will hopefully lead to an improvement in the selection process, and hopefully it will result in the appointment of someone that justifies a long stay. I didn't hear many Albion fans calling for Steve Clarke to be their next manager when Roy went but looks like he is another good choice. Hope we can unearth someone of a similar ilk, but better of course
Whatever it costs we need someone with tactical nous, who commands respect from players and fans alike and has a proven track record
Roberto Di Mateo please!
Oh! if only.................
Hold your horses dances, I may have been dislodged now, I have no idea, but I was top of the dream team league all season so far :P
Did we not try a "different type of manager" with our last three appointments Cinci?
TC, virgin manager, not one of the "same crop" as you put it.
SS, continental who was brought in to change the playing style.
DS, "up and coming" with success (limited) at lowly Doncaster (they were then).
Look where that got us!!!!
Go back to basics and get a proven English-Leagues type of manager.
Can't we get a Scot and everybody be happy?
Can you imagine the biggest spender in football ever matching up with the tightest chairman!?
He didn't have enough money at Villa, despite spending loads, he's hardly going to come to Wolves and have a fraction of those funds EVEN IF we get up to the prem.
He so very nearly destroyed Villa, when given free reign to spend. They are still repairing the damage today and perhaps won't recover fully for many years to come.
If you want a Scot, Alex McLeish. A dismal failure who nobody else wants.
Steve Coppell
Neil Warnock
Alan Curbishley
Gary Megson
Paul Sturrock
Sean O'Driscoll
Darren Ferguson
Eddie Howe
Karl Robinson
Kevin Blackwell
MoN, behave. No Prem manager is going to come to a League 1 side.
Get on with the real debate
