I would imagine that, like the rest of us, she is also thinking 'why the hell didn't steve appoint a good manager when we had options available'?

Its a real shame liverpool didn't put 5 past us in december, he would have gone then apparently as it was only a knee jerk reaction to one defeat, not an accumulation of 15 points in 23 games etc etc.

I'd bet she isn't!

? Why wouldn't she cyp?

We had two managers offered the job, both with much better records than mick at that level for a start.
And one manager regarded as having a very bright future in gus poyet.

What if Birmingham had beaten Spurs on the last day of 2010-11 and Wolves had been relegated. Would McCarthy have been sacked then?

You can only laugh aries, its like one of those fishing stories where initially you catch a wee perch and after 20 times of sharing its a freakin' great white.

Its amazing how many people are coming out now to speak up, I don't recall many kicking up a fuss back then, indeed around half welcomed it and many more were indifferent including many who now preach otherwise.

12 yards disappearance has spared quite some embarrassment for some.

Its true cinci isn't it. One minute you and witless were moaning that people kept copying the comments that you and him were making. Victimisation you used to call it. Then 12 yards disappeared and all that old garbage went into history.

"12 yards disappearance has spared quite some embarrassment for some"

Do you remember when you claimed that Everton and a top 8 finish should be our benchmark cinci?

It's a shame some people on here spend more time discussing other posters and less time talking about our fantastic team.

HEYHOE

A name or a greeting?

After watching the game live on TV at 5-1 I was furious & shouted 'he has to go' to my 3 year old daughter.

Having watched it again a few days later...it really wasn't that bad. We equalise and are well on top pushing to win the game. When we go 2-1 down there's still a sustained effort to equalise.

It's when the 3rd on goes in...there's an overwhelming realisation that 'life as we know it' is over, with no way back. The fans knew it, & the players knew it & they gave up demoralised & defeated for those last 17 minutes. That goal was also the first time in the season we'd dipped into the relegation zone.

Level headed thinking would suggest that in terms of Premiership survival this was merely a minor blip & not a catastrophe and that no points against the Albion actually works out the same on the league table as no points against anyone else.

So yes, I agree with Ol' Heyhoe...2-1 would have had very different consequences.

Didn't Moxey say on 12 yards that although we wouldn't usurp Man United...we should aim for top 3 or 4

Ive never claimed anything else deja, you wont see me hide behind name changes etc
And no idea what your point is dj to be honest?!?

Around the top 8 was not an unreasonable benchmark. At the time the top 7 picked themselves & ALL of the rest were pretty similar with no one exempt from being being in a relegation battle.

At the time our plan seemed foolproof for moving forward...a born again fit O'Hara & the great white hope Roger Johnson would be the ones to...'make a difference'

Also simon, that was kind of the problem, the mental aspect, mick no longer had the players, he had lost that never say die spirit........thats why we were behind early in many many games that season.

posted on 8/5/13

Yes...the young & hungry spirit was fading, as those same players were rapidly becoming old & tired.

Premiership season 1: All 90mph blood & thunder performances on adrenaline got us through the season.

Season 2: Tried the same but couldn't last for 90 minutes, still an epic heroic Premiership crusade.

Season 3: Premiership novelty completely worn off, endless defeats & everyone became sick of the 'is this all there is?' of just merely surviving.

You of all people should know why 12 yds disappeared DJ Molineux. (aka crikey)

It was you and your merry band of men, with your constant insults, that caused art to close it and that's why you came on here with a different user name, hoping posters would forget.

However your vile insults are up here for all to see.

Plus why we are still rambling on about MM after 3 others after him have come and gone, to me, is astonishing.

I'm one for moving on.

WITSS, 12 yards started great, but soon became an embarassment due to petty bickering. Football went to the wall whilst too many on there started trying to earn "Brownie Points" at the cost of others. Pettiness and name-calling became the norm. I was so disappointed, and eventually spent very little time on there.

The reason why we still refer to McCarthy, WITLESS, is because he's the yardstick by which all others are now judged, and, more importantly, it was his sacking that has led to the club's rapid demise. I've told you that several times already, so there's really no excuse for you having forgotten already.
Interesting to note that he won more games than he lost at each the clubs at which he managed - including the Republic of Ireland! Admirable, I'm sure you'll agree.

Personally bute I think it was keeping him that led to this demise. Simon has got it spot on. Mick needed to freshen the squad year on year as all good teams do but instead we had 8/9 of the same players that got us promoted that weren't performing. If he would. Have gone in the summer after the Blackburn game he couldn't manage to win then someone else would have got new players in and had a fresh approach to the new season instead of the same old putting a shift in from players that didn't seem capable or interested in doing that anymore.

We don't know what restrictions he was under. Interesting that so many ex players and other figures are now commenting on the episode.
