Gallys Backward...

Firstly, although Howard IS a target man, he is a poor one at that. Lump it to him and he will flick it on (if he wins it in the first place) to nobody - usually the opposition keeper.

Secondly, Miller is 11 years Howards junior, infinitely more mobile in terms of movement and pace. Therefore he will be infront of Howard on those qualities.

Thirdly, his touch HAS to be better than Stevie's... I'm not a Howard-hater by the way, just making the comparison, but Steve's second touch is usually a tackle.

Why we perceive this to be nothing more than an average or mediocre signing I don't know? He has proven he can score goals (if and when fit), he's young, hungry, powerful, what more can we ask for. Him upfront with Nugent, Long, Vassell, dare I say it even Howard, if he stays will be a very potent attacking line up!

---

And why would he go to Forest if he wants promotion?! They have bottled it the last two seasons running and will be lucky to finish in the top half under Schteeeve McLaren and his concerns of having no new players!?

Doc, I think it's time we let Forest fans in on what everyone else knows - that there isn't a trophy for saying 'we're not rivals' the most times. No wonder they think they're such a big club

With your players wages, if you boom and bust we'll all be laughing.
See you fester mugs on 20th August.

The time and energy they use trying to convince themselves and everyone else that they don't hate us has the exact opposite effect!

Very amusing to witness! And Emilio making ray cry is also very amusing!

'Emilio, the only person using the word "rivals" in this thread is you and Doc. That says more about it than any of ours have done'

That's ok Ray, I actually have a memory of things even before this thread started a good 3 hours ago

Exactly Doc, they'd be better off playing it cool, it doesn't make any difference anyway, we hate them just as much as the majority of football fans in England hate them

That bottom lip going again ray?!

There's an awful lot of replies from florist fans that don't care about us.

There there ray, do you wanna hug big guy?

'I can't even be bothered to go over the locality feeling vs history between the clubs thing plus locality. You have never understood because of your own feelings about us. I mean, do you have any sort of massive feelings about Coventry?'

Well, it all depends on the individual doesn't it Ray my man? Personally, I hate all 3 of our local teams whom we've played many times in our history - that being you, Derby and Coventry. Being in relatively close proximity to these places we naturally have a dislike towards them, as is the case with local rivalries in this country. But not all of us hate all 3 of course, though I would find it quite perplexing that anyone could not hate Nottingham Forest, their fans having the arrogance and racism levels only surpassed by those of Leeds Utd.

Anyway, If we are talking about history I would love to hear you harp on about the great history of your arch rivals, Derby County, if you will?

Ah yes the 'I'm more intelligent than you' rant, rather ironically followed by telling us the banter on derbys board is better than ours!

You look silly!

Emilio, what on earth are you doing explaining things sensibly and logically about local rivalries? They are never gonna understand that. Sorry florist fans kneel and say 3 'we hate derbys' and all will be well.

'Emilio, in all seriousness and putting any idiocy to one side for a moment.'

Ok, if I must

You're right hate is a strong word, perhaps it's not the right one to use in football. That said, the passion and emotions in football do take over on match days.

As for defining moments - maybe there's still some to come I do know that the fans make a bigger deal about rivalries than most other games so that's what makes them special. The atmosphere is different (better) and it's very hard not to get caught up in a local derby atmosphere.

I think regarding us, whilst we may have had our success years at different times whislt you had yours around Derby's time, certainly from our side there's plenty of memories passed on down through the generations, and whether the majority of Forest fans see it as a big derby or not, it still feels like one for us, and for that reason it doesn't really bother me.
