I find it funny how someone like De Jong, who hardly spent a large amount of time in Manchester, to know how many fans United have in the city.
In all fairness Arab the same could be said about RVP. However everyone knows Manchester has a massive united following. The people that say otherwise are bitter ABUs
Notice how the bitters are quiet after the latest parade...
I bet Doris had all sorts of jokes lined up
It was always quite obvious that De Jong was primed by City's PR team to make his comments about Manchester being blue. Similarly, I wouldn't be surprised if Van Persie was told to say what he did. However, i've grown weary of the debate in all honesty. Most City fans have their heads too far buried in the sand to admit the truth. If you ever manage to meet an honest City fan (i happen to live with one) they'll admit that there probably is more United fans than City fans in Manchester.
But in reality it's not even close. It's not 50/50 or even 55/45. It's closer to around 60% red and probably more. Of course, the media, City fans and other rival fans enjoy peddling the myth that no United fans live in Manchester. It's aided by the fact (and it is a fact) that United have huge numbers of "out-of-towners". But that has absolutely nowt to do with the number of reds in Manchester.

Agreed 100%.
I came up from London to go to the parade, and the train back afterwards was rammed. Plenty got off at Stockport (where I'm from) and Macclesfield and even Stoke, but it was still full of reds by the time we got to Euston.
But pretty much all the United fans around me on Deansgate were locals, going by their accents.
To be honest I don't care how has more fans in the city of Manchester, our ground is normally always full (yes, yes) there are always a few empty seats but we normally have circa 75k every hoe game, city couldn't get that even if their ground was big enough. But to be fair t's a tiresome argument, a bit like two kids arguing over whose dad is the toughest.
Oh and by the way, don't even go there, my dad even at 71 years old will still take most of yaaaaaaaaa!

Is your dad about to enjoy a well-deserved retirement, by any chance?
