Someone has decided by letting the fans know the clubs inner dealings, will quell the frustrations of all their rejected bids...
Worrying times for the Teddy Bears
I think it's just to allay the fans fears to stop them becoming impatient with a new set of owners.
Especially as we are short of numbers through no fault of Whyte or McCoist (Murray/Banks's fault) It is backfiring somewhat though, as fans are getting frustrated when the deals don't go through and you have to also wonder if other clubs are watching to see who we go for to get tips on players.
They should shut up from now on though and I agree with you.
On the other hand we also have known all of Celtics targets, even if they have been leaked (by whom?) rather than directly from the club apart from Bellamy.

ah i see Curly..... Well id revert back to the old way they operated. Bring back Bain!
Greyskull your right but unfortunatley this is an issue Celtic have had for years takes ages to sign up player leaving it open for another club to get in 1st!
I think there is a lot of Grandstanding from the new regime. Dundee Utd claimed that Rangers never once submitted a written bid for Goodwillie despite all the media coverage over the seven supposed bids. In any kind of business transaction verbal agreements or bids have no legal standing and it is not surprising that Goodwillie was never allowed to speak to Rangers.
This is a shockingly incompetent way to do business unless the point is not to be bound into buying a player yet creating a fiction for PR purposes that the club is doing everything it can to secure the players signature. There can be no other conclusion unless it is Rangers have a board who do not know how to transact business on a professional level. And that, I just cannot believe.

I totally disagree with you Iamnumber7
A verbal offer is still a tender of an offer. It's doesn't need to be written at that stage as it's not going to go to court.
If the offer is accepted I suspect a written offer would immediately follow with terms etc which would also need to be accepted. It makes a lot more sense to me to do it this way rather than continually write legal contracts up for bids.
The documentation does not need to be written up until an agreement has been reached. Most business in the world is done like this. If you buy a house you submit a verbal offer and if that is accepted you put the smae offer in writing. I don't see the problem
On another note Hearts just gone 2-0 up. That's great news for once this season in Europe. Let's hope Rangers, Celtic and Hearts can get past the next stage.
Great news about Hearts, about time a Scottish team gave us a wee bit of pride back.
Wait a minute. I was at an auction earlier this year.
There was a nice item on the block that I really wanted.
So I let this other guy bid till he won.
Then I went to the auctioneer and told him I would give him the same money as the guy had bid.
Guess what they told me.

Quebec auctioneers have their own rules. I take it you are trying to compare that to Rangers transfer dealings? As long as a player hasn't signed they can go to any club if the selling club agrees the fee.
as I said any verbal agreements or bids have no legal standing as all business transactions or offers have to be recorded on letter headed paper and notarised by the relevant official to be legal. otherwise I may make a £200m bid for Messi tomorrow by email and be held to account. Doesn't make sense does it?
Curly, that is how Rangers went about the Goodwillie business.
They waited for Blackburn's bid to be accepted then went in (lower) WTF
More than once.
Do you really not see the comparison?
Oh aye and you are of course right on the other thread.
Managers have nothing to do with which players come in or are offered extensions.
Tho' maybe you are right about Ally having no input as he may not be trusted by his bosses.

No7 for the last time they do not have to have any legal standing until they are accepted. Once accepted legal papers would be written up. I don't see the point you are trying to argue.
Are you suggesting that Rangers wouldn't sent legal documentation upon a verbal acceptance? Seriously give it a rest. No club, business in the world would do business with no documents.

Curly you are wrong about the contract being 100 binding at the point of Gravel. There has to be consideration (ie money) exchanged to be a legal contract.
So it also blows no7's point out as well. As even if there is an offer and acceptance in writing. It's still not legal until consideration has been exchanged.
So, Curly, what do you call the Goodwillie fiasco?
Blackburn bid 2.8 Rangers LATER bid 2.6 and are giving D.U. dogs abuse for not letting Rangers have him on the cheap.
So you still think a football manager has nothing to do with players coming in to his team or leaving it?

What is the prize for the right answer?
Quebec what you are saying is alleged. Rangers are saying they bid more than Blackburn. Dundee Utd are saying less to justify them saying no and so they don't lose money from Rangers fans.
It was quoted on the radio yesterday that Utd said I wish Rangers would go away. They had no intention of selling to Rangers. Utd hate both the OF and you can see this in the new league discussions.

Wow you guys are like the "Kerrydale Accountants you speak of so fondly.
Castle, your bid went in after DU accepted B/burn's offer.
Curly just explained it.
Thanks Curly.

No it doesn't Curly I have a law degree mate. You need Offer, Acceptance and consideration. That is why clubs and contracts are sold for £1 there has to be consideration exchanged to be legally binding.
So even if we gave a written offer and Dundee Uts gave a written acceptance it's not legally binding until we gave them at least £1.
