No chance this will happen

Anyone else living in Spain who's listened to Radio Marca this morning can confirm the story.
I posted an article on this topics a couple of days ago.
Given the bittching we would've heard from Chelsea had they not got the 4th spot in the CL despite finishing in 6th last season, they should be made to enter the EL so they can defend their title.
the chaaavs would have a heart attack
mourinho in the europa
shame it wont happen
I'm confused, is this a WUM or not? Pretty great one if it is
I heard this on the radio this morning too, apparently Chelsea face UEFA sanctions if they decide to drop out of the EL next season
If they don't defend it then it just proves that it wasn't worth winning in the first place.
There is a clause that says Chelsea can compete in the CL only if they provide a nomination for another English club who could put up a credible defense of the EL, so naturally we have nominated Everton
UEFA aims to pass a new directive that as of next season the Europa League holders will be forced to defend their title regardless of their finishing position in their domestic league.

I think it would be better if the winner of Europa League were given a Champions League spot.

Or Wigan.
no as in chelsea are in the champs
" another English club who could put up a credible defense of the EL, so naturally we have nominated Everton

now that Moyes has left that might actually be true now
Hahaha. This is quite funny because there's no single part of the story that sound remotely plausible. When a new rule is made the old one is given time to ware off. You can't change a goal post during the cause of a game. And even it it happens Chelsea can decline to play in it and sue Uefa if they punish them for doing so.
Does not sound a good idea.
Imagine if the finalist is sitting 2nd in the table, then surely they will throw the game. Or if both finalist are sitting 2nd in their league table, it may become a joke final, where both teams will be trying their best to lose.
Unless they can increase the money in the Europa League that it will become worthwile to defend it instead of going into the CL, this plan does not work.
Why haven't Lazio defended the Cup winners Cup?? They were the last team to win it
Won't happen. We're not the first team to win the EL and then qualify for the CL the next season.
Stop getting the potatoes' hopes up, it's cruel

Put it like this : this article gives me less cause for hope than the one this time last year did about an Italian club facing possible sanctions for match fixing.
