Are Liverpool in Europa next season.

Honest question, so don't know why admins pulled my article

No I don't think so. A couple of weeks ago there was a chance we could have been via the fair play table, but I think England have dropped out of the top three places in the European table now, so we're unlikely to qualify.

Either way, this Champions League qualification only takes affect from the 2014/2015 season onwards.

I have said for years they should give a CL place as a prise for winning the Europa as it would certainly make it a more exciting competition.

Good news for Spurs. What happens if say the team that wins EL has already qualified via there own league. Does the EL spot go to the runner up?

it means to be regular at the champions league if one should forget the top 4 one has to win the Europa league on a regular bases

You couldn't win the Europa league on a regular basis.

Once you've won it you're not in it the year after.

Unless of course you drop down from the CL.

Much better to just win the CL on a regular basis.

it's a good idea

Apparently the winner of the Europa League & Champions league will receive a Champs League place in addition to each association's allocation... so there could technically be 6 places for English teams.

Lets just win the league next year to make sure though!

Sweden, Norway and Finland got the fair play places. Damn Scandinavians.

No. Uefa said 5 max. If the winners of both trophies haven't already qualified for the Champiosn league through their leage places, then the top three go through and are joined by the two cup winners. 4th place in the leage goes into europa.

Sorry guys I'm dead against the EL winners being given a CL place, the only benefit i see is making teams take the EL more serious and possibly field stronger teams.

Why?

I'd be very disappointed if we were looking to qualify for the champions league in 2/3 years just by winning the Europa league

Hoddy

All UEFA/FIFA are trying to do is to give the Europa League some credibility amongst the bigger clubs.

I dont even agree with teams K/O'd from the C/L should go into the E/L

For me winners of the Europa are more worthy of entering the Champions League than second place in the league. It is the Champions League afterall.

TOOR

I would agree with that, because at least they are champions of something! And I'm aware Utd weren't league champions when they won the C/L.

We should go back to the old ways european cup and winners cup

why do people care so much about being 'champions' of something to qualify for the European Cup?

it's a group + knockout cup comp, not a league of only teams who won something with the word champions on it

That's the whole point. It shouldn't be. It's called the Champions League. It's not exactly groundbreaking stuff here.

it's just a name thought up by a WAG of a UEFA bureaucrat.

It's a knockout comp to figure out who is the champion of Europe, not 'a league of champions'

Fair point.
