I don't like it but is it worse than a land mine manufacturer?

You've lost me here....where do landmines figure in all this?

A Chinese Solar Panel manufacturer advertises in the stadium that also manufactures land mines, which is really another low for Gartside.

Ah....I see.

And I take it their ads are still shown, despite Garty being aware of this situation.....'cos where Phil's concerned, cash is cash.

Anyway, fully agree with you regarding the Quick Quid thing.

If the rumour is true, we shouldn't be touching them with a barge-pole.

For the reasons cited in your article and the fact that it's just a bit chavvy to have someone like them as your main sponsor.

Reebok - Betting Company - Glorified loan-sharks.

Who's next...?

The Taliban....?

I think it's disgusting, if in fact it's true.

Every time I see the ads on TV from these sharks, it makes my blood boil. They have no morals and prey on the weakest of society.

Maybe because of all the bad publicity these companies are getting at the moment, this carp government might finally do something about it. On TV this morning it stated that the highest APR from one of these companies is ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Wait for it ..........................................................................................................................................................................................................16 million %. Yes that's what was said!!!!!! Most of these companies charge over 4000%.

Surely this has to be addressed and if Gartside is prepared to have one of these companies as our shirt sponsor, one can only assume that he has no morals.

Kerry Catony, probably spelt wrong, advertises one of these companies. I would have thought with her background of being a previous bankrupt, she would have had more sense. No I take that back, I don't think she is enough intelligent enough to think the matter through.

i think if you looked into all the corporates that currently sponsor us, and have previously sponsored you will be able to find some dirt that you wouldnt want to be associated with.

Until quick quid are proven guilty of there actions then as far as i am concerned they are legitimate perfectly serviceable sponsors. Not many complained about 188bet being our sponsor when there are those who have gambling addictions etc.

OMG Clegg! That's a really good impression of an ostrich! Read the articles attached. Such a Tory (EDIT UKIP) response as well! As long as it generates funds for BWFC its all good for me. I flippin' hate that. Thatcher started this '**ck everybody else' attitude that people have in this country and it bloody stinks!

Maybe if you were related to a person who comits suicide after being chased by one of the companies you might feel differently.

Sorry but I find your attitude and the board's way of doing business abhorent! If it doesn't effect me I'm ok with it! Sell your soul to the devil and everyman for himself. Well, you reap what you sow and karma has very interesting ways of evening those scores.

Quick quid off!,This is becoming embarrassing now,you watch the stadium name will change soon from the Reebok. We could end up with a deal like the Kit Kat stadium up in York I think.
Its obviously getting tight for money up there with clowns like Mills n Mears on big fat contracts creaming it off.
Armegeddon I predicted,I may be right after all eh?.

JAH - you are a weird one

i said:

-innocent until proven guilty (i.e court of law, and not the daily mail)

-i mentioned that if you looked most corporates have dirt on them

-i mentioned that nobody complained about a gambling company sponsoring us

and you have somehow, in some odd way derived that i have an attitude of - '**ck everybody else'

you have also just said that people have commited suicide as a direct result of loan companies - what has that got to do with anything i said.

You are sometimes a very odd creature.

My opinion on loan companies such as Quickquid is, they offer a service, which nobody is forced into taking, are well aware of the consequences and costs associated with defaulting. Whilst i believe there is, in this instance a good argument for state intervention on the alleged preying on the most vulnerable, some responsibility has to be taken by the person borrowing those monies. Legislation is in place to help prevent this, however is nigh on impossible to police. The regulatory body, the FSA has already been slammed in its handling of this, and quite rightly so, and is seen as not being fit for purpose, on a number of issues.
If quickquid are proven to have done what they have alleged to have done, i will have almost the exact same opinion on how BWFC should treat them. i wouldnt boycott shirt purchases, id just request it to be taken off.

you can quite legitametely walk into a shop by a couple of bottles of vodka, neck them and kill yourself. Whos fault would that be, yours, the governments, the shop where you bought them, society, upbringing?? Different views would point the finger at different things, i have always been taught you are responsible for your own action, whilst i also believe those in power have a duty of care to those, not able to look after themselves, however with a delicate balance of not disrupting those who can look after themselves. Its difficult, but in most instances is working

i dont think that is an opinion of selling yourself to the devil.

get a grip son - have a beer and chill out

Good, logical argument there Clegg. I'm of the same opinion. Whilst there are a number of companies I would rather have us associated with, theres nothing we can do about it if it is QuickQuid.

All the shirt is is an advertising board. We receive money off the company for the privilege. Like you say, people who use them know the conscequences of doing so, not that i agree with the conscequences.

JAH, people kill themselves over gambling debts as well, and in that case 188bet is just as bad as quickquid. The fact of the matter is QQ is a legal company and as far as I know, havent done anything illegal (if they have I apologise and echo your views).

You guys don't get it! Its not a legal issue at all! Its an ethical one! These companies prey on the vunerable of society and make profit out of it. I would totally support both of your view points if the applicants demonstrated a level of knowledge that they understand what they are doing by taking out a loan at 7000-1milion% APR. The fact is that they don't understand what they are doing and that is being exploited by companies such as QQ.

We assume that most of us in society can understand out actions, but thats why we are not targeted by these loan sharks because we know they are just that sharks!

These companies target the mentally ill, sick and the desperate of society. For a purely ethical reasons we should not be giving these schizers a platform to prey on yet more vunerable people.

Someone on another forum pointed out that we wouldn't put the BNP on our shirts and for the same reason we shouldn't have QQ.

Was looking to get the new home top to replace the 2 old white shirts i recently threw away.will just get the 58 top instead.I am 4000 % against this.

I haven't seen a Hanwha (landmine makers) ad since we were relegated.

As for Quickquid, the whole payday loans sector has been threatened with government regulation so their practices aren't particularly clean There's also the poor bloke in Horwich who set himself on fire over debts from such companies so for Bolton to have such a deal is at best in poor taste.

If Sheffield Wednesday can turn a payday lender down, why can't we?

posted on 28/5/13

Also the numbers I've heard in what we get in return aren't that big. Heard it's a fraction of Sam Ricketts' wage for example

Stand by your email inboxes. You are to be told you need a loan to buy your season ticket. My junk box awaits it and all other emails from the club

I completely agree with JAH although you are fighting a losing battle when you try and promote ethics and football. Sadly today there are none and this shirt sponsorship simply personifies it. Also I would lay off Gartside he is doing nothing that any other club wouldn't do.

not true others have walked away as they have ethics and an understanding of fans opinions Garside has not. Check his consultancy company to see if they took a cut

YOP they are very few and far between in football.

I'm not too happy with the name 'Quickquid' being on our shirts.

However, many sports companies, such as Nike, have been found to be using sweatshops and child labour. Surely that is just as bad?

posted on 29/5/13

Long gone are the days when a local company would sponsor a local club. Who have we got locally with the money for sponsors besides Bread man and Eddies company. Doesn't leave a lot when you think about what sponsors want for their money, it's all gone global exposure and branding these days. I guess Watsons wouldn't be a bad choice.

posted on 29/5/13

I really hope this isn't true.Wasn't the announcement supposed to be today?

The players running round with a legal loan shark on the shirts is just plain wrong. I'd rather forgo the money and have a blank shirt. Surely there were other offers on the table even if they weren't offering the same money?

On a side note, would the kids shirts have the sponsor on?
