I'd go as far as saying if Spurs could have one striker next season I'd have Suarez (on pure footballing ability)

I have no problem people saying Falcao/RVP/Lewandowski are better as that is a fair debate. But, to say he isn't one of the best around is pretty deluded.

I think you raise a good point there Adot.

Is it possible that due to the lack of technique from our homegrown players, and our desire to have the footballing ability of the Spanish, that we have actually been put off hard working players.

Is it possible that they have to have a certain arrogance, a nonchalance, they need to be a bit of an enigma, for us to consider them truly world class.

Possibly that we think that someone who runs around a lot is too close to being an English headless chicken, and we put players who can fade in and out of games, but produce moments of brilliance, on a pedestal?

Dirk Kuyt is a perfect example. A decent goals record for his position, and always seemed to be in the Dutch team, but was widely ridiculed in this country. Obviously not world class, but a decent player, often derided as a carthorse.

Well said Igor

Arsenal fans will often say players like Di Maria are world class because of their "technique" but whenever I've seen him he looks very ineffectual.

I would much rather players like Bale and Suarez with who have ability and workrate than these players who have a lovely first touch but actually don't really have much of an impact on the game

Ignore the 'with' in my last sentence

Yeah, I've often thought the same about Ibrahimovic. On his day, he is a breathtaking, fantastic footballer. But at times, he must be so frustrating to have in your team.

Given the choice, I'd take a Tevez over an Ibra 7 or 8 times out of ten.

Players like Taarabt are similar story, on a different level at all. Looked a fantastic player at times, but someone like Jamie Mackie was more effective over the course of a season.

Spot on Igor......you often see comments about fairly average looking players....

'How the Fack did this guy end a pro'

And more often than not.....its desire and wanting it more......

Imagine the player you'd have if you cld pair taarabts skill.....with mackies desire and work ethic....!?

Oh and Suarez is top class......

You do realize that having a great first touch and being effective aren't mutually exclusive don't you?

Players who have both are rare. They are the truly World Class players. Problem is you can't have a full team of these types.

The point me and Bale were making is that you'd rather have a player who gives 7/10 every game than a player who gives a 10 one week, then a 5 the next.

The definition of world class is pretty subjective. For me, a world class player is one who wins you games quite often and keeps a level of consistency throughout the season. The "if he is the top 3 players in his position" definition is totally ridiculous.

On the technique Vs directness issue, you seem to have the impression that only the technical players can go missing in games. So not true. Even the direct players like Bale go missing in games for weeks even!

He is definitely world class.

A top 5 player in the league.

Podolski and Suarez are on the same level.

No they arent. Suarez is miles ahead. No doubt.

People pls noticed I am an Arsenal fan.

I assumed the Podolski on par with Suarez comment was a joke

This is a shocking article. I can only hope it's a poor attempt at wumming.

I kinda agree with the point Dubbed is trying to make, but he's over-exaggerating as usual.

Suarez is a quality player, but he's not world class for me either. He's not on the same level as players like RVP, Aguero, Tevez etc. That doesn't mean he's not a top player though.

Suarez is easily one of the top 2 strikers in the league at the moment, Kamran. Suarez would make just about any team in the world, including Barca, Madrid and Bayern. Cavani who is seen as an elite striker in world football was benched for sometime by Suarez and plays second fiddle to him for Uruguay. I feel some people here are really in denial about Suarez' quality. If Suarez isn't world class, then I hope those saying that nonsense never called players like Fabregas world class for Arsenal.

He's not one of the top 2 strikers in the league. RVP, Aguero and Tevez are definitely better than him.

I'm not a huge fan of Cavani btw, he's a good goalscorer, but his all-round game is pretty average. He's not a very talented player. An efficient goalscorer he is.

Suarez is much better than Aguero, and better than Tevez.

Suarez is easily better than both Aguero and Tevez. Easily. You are as good as your last season as far as I'm concerned. If you offered me Suarez and both, I know who I'd pick. Even if you disagree, you must have a very strange definition of world class to claim one of the best and most versatile strikers in the world isn't world class. If Suarez played for Arsenal, I'm dead certain you'd be singing a different tune.

The average of the second guy is 7.5, so he wins.

What has Cesc to do with this article, or in fact Suarez? You're really obsessed with him aren't you? Had to have a little dig in there too.

Cesc oozes pure class when on form. Very strange sentence.

"Suarez is easily better than both Aguero and Tevez. Easily. "

What can one say to that? Absolute bull.

Dubbed you are one of the worst debaters I have seen in a long time (and this is the Internet so that is saying a lot!) Even on topics where I think I might agree with you I find myself wanting to change my opinion because of the awful way you attempt to present your arguments.
