Exactly what I said a few months ago. People were throwing strops.
"But you see him against Milan?!"

He's a direct player, who'll either play on the wings or behind the striker (second striker). He's not a playmaker.

Don't think it's precision he lacks, he just seems to misjudge the weight of a pass usually drilling it way too hard. He has got good vision though, can see the spaces in front. Thought this overhitting passing was down to him being stronger than he realised but not too sure now.

HIs performance against Milan was amazing because he sat deep which you wouldn't expect a 17 year old to have the maturity to do.

I'm not judging him based on yesterday's game AHB, didn't even watch that. In general I don't think his passing is anything special, he never seems to play the ball to feet. I think his technical ability is overrated by our fans tbh.

Btw when I say he never plays it to feet, I mean he always plays it either behind or in front of his intended target. That's also what I meant when I said I don't think his passing is precise enough.

He looked pretty good yesterday when he was cutting in from the wings

Didn't see it either Kam, lucky us.

I agree he's not technically great. Overhits or skies alot of passes as you say. But I have seen him play quite a few passes that demonstrate he has the vision, just seems incapable of weighting his passes.

When we signed him I said we'd paid too much money for a player, at that stage, we didn't need. Got so much abuse for it too.

Really wish I'd been wrong...

Saw a compilation on his performance yesterday. He seemed to overrun the ball quite a few times. That's another thing he needs to work on.

I think he'll turn into a Bale type player in terms of style. He's strong, direct, can take players on, shoot from distance etc.

He could yet grow into a very good player. My first impressions of him with the ball was that he was stronger than he realised. Perhaps it'll just take a few years for him to fill out as such.

Not having a pop at him or anything btw, just don't think he's midfield material. I think he'll be a good player for us in the future.

He's a good substitute to have. Always makes the game bright when he comes on

He's a great sub to have that will only improve, he has good competition so he can't get complacent and with him being young he is happy to wait for his chances and not moan about being on the bench. Perfect situation for us as we have other strong options (Walcott, Podolski and Cazorla) aswell.

This. Haven't seen much of him but he looked more comfortable in the middle.. doesn't seem to like defending.

Agree Kamran.

Hopefully he gets his head in the right shape this summer, and comes back a vastly improved player next season.

Yeah i noticed that as well, for some reason he was defending only a few yards in front of Cole and no where near the midfield bank of what should be 4, very strange. It looked like he was trying to give Cole more support but i doubt Cole needed it.

Also can someone tell Dubbed to unfilter me please?

I still have faith Chamberlain will become a good player for us, but after being so 'reliably' informed by several posters how it was money well spent and how he'd be amazing for us in his first season, two seasons down the line from him joining us, and..?

Should've loaned him straight back to Southampton really. Oh well.

Oh, and as for the chump that said he was better than Götze.

AHB I agree there. He has the vision but does lack the correct weight if pass required. People forget he's only 19. I think he can play in midfield but not for now. Maybe in future due to the fact he's more of an attack minded player for now. I see a lot of Ronaldo/Rooney in him.

Classic.

Apart from the general cockyness there's not too much there.

I've always thought there was a resemblance with Rooney in the way that plays. I don't think his place in the long term is in the midfield either, but I see him making a fantastic second striker in the future. For now though, his best position is out wide, he offers us creativity which we don't get from our other wide men (except when Santi is played on the left). I feel he'll have a breakout season in 13/14.

We can't forget that he is only 19 though. But this is the problem when young, raw players are signed for big fees. Too much is expected, too soon. His signing was a long term investment. And I'm very confident it'll prove to be a great one.
