It is desperate ...
And I pray that nobody is sick enough to make fun of it
Every community has it
And you can help by donating food to the local Foodbanks..

Scouse Ram

I hope you are not having a cheap dig just because the report is about Nottingham.

There is an estate like this in most cities.

It is not something to mock. Liverpool, I presume that is where you are from/live, also have their fair share of areas like this.

It is the times we live in. This shoddy government hasn't got a clue on how to deal with this. They should be standing up for Britain and stopping more and more foreigners coming into the country. Charity begins at home, cut the foreign aid bill. Let's sort our own mess out before helping others. We should stop being pushovers and tell the Eurocrats to take a jump of the nearest ferry whilst in mid channel.

Rant over!

Webbo, no cheap dig at all, (just a reality check).

Even though I was born and lived in rural Derbyshire for 30 odd years, I do have to bite my lip on a regular basis when people ask me where I live and I get the stereotypical reaction!

I lived in the Meadows. I bought my first house there. Although I made a tidy profit 18 months later I wouldn't wish what I went through on anybody. If your face doesn't fit they make sure you know. I had wheels cut off my wheelie bin, super glue in my door lock, bits of paper through my letterbox, the gas, fire and police called out for no reason to my house in the middle of the night. It was not pleasant. I'm fortunate but I also appreciate that there are many who aren't

Toxteth and Kensington Scouse Ram are just like St Anns and the meadows!

All cities have them!

Webbo, i dont think its a case of the government doesnt know what to do, its just choosing not to do it.

The rich get richer, while the poor stay where they are.
Along with no real incentive anymore to get a job, with most benifiet cuts to those in real need. While exceutives enjoy a 50% pay rise in the last yew years minimum wage has remained rooted its ridiculous.

For example, increase in tuition fees makes educated jobs amost an in-viable option, so whats the chances of trade then moving abroad? While those who become in debt through it, unless they hit gold, will probably never pay it all back, costing the goverment more than if tuition was free. Not like theres been studies on this kind of thing....

The country as a whole - Never, has a country got out of a recession by cutting. Only spending. Spend money to make money, look at germany, and they paid for two world wars.

Wouldnt mind popping over and living with the aussies, they get things right but i'd miss the footy

Thats my rant.

It is more an indictment of our present situation. Perhaps Fawaz and his billions could help out a little.

I used to walk through the Meadows from the station to West Bridgford. I had no problem but people would ask if they could walk with me because they were too frightened to walk on their own.

Spart. It's not a bad call.

Job creation and training is needed.

Unfortunately, as that report says, some stay in bed all day and when they do get up, walk around the streets in their pj's.

It's no use saying go and sell the big issue to make cash for essentials. It's also no use paying people to sit at home. If they are cutting the benefits there should be some sort of incentive to work and earn a "living" wage. Just a little investment in areas like this and you would put the pride back to those who live from day to day not knowing where the next penny is coming from.

That Rachel in the report ain't a bad bit of fluff though

Pay Day Loan companies

Most people are doing the best they can with the hand they've been dealt.

But it doesn't sell papers.

Webbo makes a good point about foreign aid.

When we've got people who can't afford to eat here I can't see why we're sending money to India.

And they should ban payday loan companies.

'Why doesn't the Government DO something about it?'

Typical response. Why is it Government's fault? Why don't these people take advantage of the EU regs and go live somewhere else if this administration has got it so very, very wrong?

Quit whining, take some responsibility for yourselves and make your own changes instead of always expecting to be spoonfed everything.

With you on this stillhatehooijdonk
why have you posted this ,
and if you have so much time on your hands you maybe could spend it helping others less fortunate than yourself, instead of trawling the web looking for this sort of tosh.

i'm sure Rev could point you in the right direction if you'd like to help.

Don't want to generalise but after a year in Australia I'd argue that they get everything right. As a white English male it's the only place I've ever been where I've been discriminated against.

Webbo is spot on though, these places are the world over.
