The sale of Sako has nothing to do with the managerial appointment cause we all knew he was going anyway. £4.5m is a good fee I think.
As for the rest of the article;
Then the really tricky decisions begin, not least what to do with Jamie O’Hara and Roger Johnson.
Why is this tricky? The waste disposal units in most towns are open three or four days a week.
Cruel.
Don't waste disposal units have a hard enough time as it is ?
We all know that O'Hara will go to a mid level Championship club, remain injury free for four seasons in which time he will assume the captaincy, lead said club to the Premier League, average 9 goals per season and win a dozen or so England caps. He'll probably score the winner against us in the 2015 Championship play off final as well.
Will be amazed if we don't get rid of O'hara and Johnson, and we had better, that would be a very good start.
Sako will go for sure, Morgan has shown that any player has a price already.
As for the rest, it won't be so easy, very few clubs will be offering us much for any of them.....Batth, Siggy could possibly be more highly regarded than most of our squad.
Don't care about a fee for hollywood and postman, they can go for free- need them off wage bill more than anything and also out of the dressing room.
why is Siggy more highly regarded than the rest? He's nothing special...
Siggy is more highly rated cause he's not a complete A hole like JOH & RJ, not cause he's any good.
Im not saying he is anything special but he certainly has a bit of quality, something that cannot be said about many of our squad. He could certainly do a good job in the champo next season.
Siggy is highly rated by Cinci, not because he's ever seen him play but because he was not signed by McCarthy but Solbakken.
That's why Boukari, Sako, Margereitter Peszko and Doumbia are "world class".
Hunt, SEB, Doyle, Ward, Edwards and Henry are of course absolute "dross"
The profit we make from the sale of Sako will certainly help with regard to our finances next season. What worries me, is that we will be unable to sell many of the others at a decent price and be stuck with the so called dross.
Who ever said that cyp?
You should read things more closely
First of all i rate SEB as our best striker, Doyle has undoubted quality and i sincerely hope Henry stays next season........Ward is a great utility player, just a terrible left back......not gonna waste my time discussing edwards, though we are now at his level.
Boukhari was signed as our best talent last season so to write him off without seeing him play makes you look foolish, not me, the fact is that it is highly likely, had we got a full season out of him we would still be in the champo.
Given the pathetic season we had, nobody could say Pezcko did not deserve more game time......Doumbia is a poor professional, Sako proved his worth and lets not pretend Margo would have been any worse than any of our defenders the last couple of years......you know the ones, the ones who have probably conceded more goals than any other backline in the country over two years.
My point was that siggy has clear ability, and in our best performances, hard to find i know, he was a shining light..........as for seeing him play, you and i probably saw him about the same ammount, so ditto
Cyp, it's the likes of Sigurdarson that will be the backbone of our squad next season, as will Batth and Davis.
No one has mentioned world class, except your good self and I do wish posters would refrain from the term "haven't seen them play".
They showed a few of our games over here last season, so I for one have seen all of our squad "play"
That punchline is quite pathetic isn't it?
''haven't seen them play''
For three years i saw just about every game, that is over 100, the McCarthy era too, so to criticise any of those players is perfectly acceptable........last season was not so easy, maybe 8-10 games, no different to an expat in Cyprus i imagine
Even more ironic, im calling for us to revert back to McCarthy's approach...young and hungry......no doubt you dont care about that cyp, you would rather any old journeyman comes in to do the job, as you have been vocal already about us blooding youth.....maybe i prefer and rate McCarthy more than you afterall
There's nothing wrong with 'young & hungry'. It only goes wrong when the same set of young & hungry players become complacent old men!
What I find ironic is the fact that those of us who live far, far, away probably saw more of our matches in the 3 years we had in the Premiership, than most on here and if anything, are entitled to have more of an opinion on players and performances.
Not sure what's shown on TV in the UK or Cyprus, but over here there are 3 cable channels (4 if you include the Spanish one) that show pretty much every Premiership game, either live or recorded.
Nail meet head, simon.
I think you will find that EVERY game is now shown here wolfie, 6 or 7 live, the remainder straight afterwards as recordings.
Morgan's a cheapskate, & this is why the young & hungry policy that HE operates is flawed.
He gets young & cheap...they develop them...they become pretty good & get promoted into the Premiership.
The problem then is they then become very expensive to upgrade...& Morgan won't do it. Our young players have cheap contracts & although the get good pay rises relative to what they previously got...its still way off the mark compared to your average Premiership players.
Maybe things have moved on in the UK too, Cinci. Its not only the good ol' US of A that shows all the games live.
Most local pubs showed every Wolves game home and away when in the PL. Not so, now, of course.
You guys are actually bigger fans than season ticket holders...in a way.
I think what you forget is that any game shown on any cable channel anywhere in the world is available to anybody else anywhere in the world who has an internet connection.
absolutely correct ulf, vinnie......thats why i have never been pathetic enough to throw the accusations around
Of course; the internet. How could I have forgotten about that. I could have watched more games then lol.
Sorry, sarcasm, lowest form of wit and all that!
With the exception of Sako, Solbakken's buys have been average at best and poor at worst. Siggy is not any better than what we hade before. He is certainly no where near being "the Icelandic Ibrahimovic" which was the reputation that he came with. I speak from experience after seeing most (not all) of our games last season.
I'm not totally sure my comment wasn't misunderstood lol. My point was that there is just no way whatsoever someone not in the UK saw more matches. Just because in the UK you can get everything anyone else can get online...AND go to matches that aren't shown.
Agree that he is not a complete A hole, but I can see him being totally bullied in league 1. He's not tough and not especially fast although he does have some ability. A friend of mine supports Coventry- he has seen young and hungry fail in abundance. Relegation and no money for them was disastrous, it meant playing the kids and they got totally kicked off the park in the first couple of seasons and didn't recover at all. Last season was okay for them though until the points reduction. I can see Batth and Davies being key figures as they have become battle hardened from their respective loan spells. Siggy though is too soft I think. I would put Cassidy ahead of him any day of the week and Griffiths too if he ever plays for us. Siggy on the wing perhaps, but part of the backbone, NO. Backbone for me is Ikeme, Batth, Davies, Cassidy. Seeing the game on TV does differ from going to games, a lot is missed on TV despite slow motion replays. You don't for example see a lot of the off the ball action- maybe when I watched on TV I didn't play as much attention as I did to my pint, but to get the same viewing you really do have to watch like a hawk. At least at the ground you pick up on much more in my opinion.
Not sure what's shown on TV in the UK or Cyprus
Why write a comment then admit you don't know what you are talking about
I understood it ulf.......i never claimed to have seen all the matches......i saw all the online ones which would have been the televised ones anyway this last season.
Could have seen many more as tara sent me the games every week, but given the manner of the results i coldn't bring myself to watch them once the result was known.
Interesting to see in this poll that sigurdason comes second?
Not using it to validate my point, just putting it up as im clearly not alone
