Martinez and Jelavic

He gets into good positions but then misses the ball don't know what that's about. He does seem to spend too much time out wide Martinez should tell him to work the width of the 18 yard box

"I am assuming that he was carrying out Moyes's orders. Under Moyes our strikers only seemed to last a season before going stale. I am hoping that Martinez will be able to get him scoring again by directing him towards the box a bit more."

I think that it really is down to the tactics with all of our strikers, I don't think Moyes liked the selfish attitude that a good striker needs to score loads of goals (so long as they finish them!)

With Martinez at the helm I can see Jelevic scoring plenty again, I just hope that Roberto can keep the solidity at the back whilst concentrating on getting goals.

Jelavic is a good striker but I think more of a second striker and thus needs a partner or a couple of wingers either side of him.

Mirallas is going to be key this coming season, we need him to stay injury free.

If that was Moyes`s philosophy, how come jelavic did so well in his first season. The proposed argument is nonsensical.

Perhaps Jelavic played his more natural game during the first two months before adjusting to Moyes's system

Silky, because it takes time to adjust?

Rubbish!

I think it might be worth giving him another chance next season. There is the small issue of every single striker under Moyes effectively being a failure after a season, once he has sucked the life out of their creative goal scoring nature.

I think under Martinez he could flourish and rediscover his form during his first six months at the club. That said I've been one of his biggest critics in the park end, some of the guilt edge chances he has spurned this season has been nothing short of diabolical.

I guess we'll have to look at United's strikers to settle this one

Back to the thread....

Do you guys think Mirallas will stay out on the wing or get more central under Roberto? Last year fantasy.premierleague had him as an out-an-out striker

Was tired and angry to see Jelvic working out wide. He should be the target, but plenty of times he would be bypassed by our wide players....

Who would they pass to/score the chance.

Would like to have seen him play no wider than the D, sure Martinez will give him his confidence back/boost.

RVP to be a winger next season then Fella?

It could well be.

More utter BS from Silky!!! Great input, pat yourself on the back son.

Jelly, admittedly was massively garbage goal scoring wise last season. Although he did miss some chances he was also on the receiving end of the wrong option chosen by his teammate(s).

Numerous occasions a simple square ball or a through ball would have been great only to be ignored
arguement is would he have out it in. More than likely and from that further boost to confidence.

Hopefully this will be amended service wise and also a greedier striker mentality installed, he's shown he can graft for the team but lets see the real Jelavic at work.....again.

I agree on being more greedy/selfish.....that's his job

Where is this BS coming from.Be more considerate with your comments TRIPLE.
I said many times last season that Jelavic was being ignored when in great positions having made incisive runs, and that the main culprit was Piennar, who seemed to ignore the lad completely.
I dont mind Jelavic being greedy, i think that he wants to score at every opportunity, but, he is also intelligent in his play and displays an ability to lay the ball off if needed.
