I was thinking the same thing.

I would have thought SAF knew what signings he wanted to make before the end of the season, so maybe we're just going ahead with the players he's identified?

If that's the case, we're not getting a midfielder!

Ah ok Melts, wasn't aware he was unatached

Not too clear on who sanctioned this. Sir Alex would have certainly had to saction every player purchase so maybe Moyes has sanctioned it now anyway given it's a free and he may already be aware of the player.

Maybe even Sir Alex has given Moyes the heads up

Pretty sure thats the reason why we are making a signing without a manager. We prob made our mind up to sign him a while back, but thought we'd better snap him up now before anyone else swoops in.

He did have a trial before the end of the season:

He was with the first team for 10 days or so at the end of the season. It was a unique trial in many ways because he trained with the first team during his entire spell. Obviously, if you're not up to that level, you get exposed quickly in the first-team group but his performances are believed to have impressed Sir Alex and the rest of the players.

so its most likely that SAF and the backroom staff identified him and seeing as he is more a youth signing and not going straight into the first team it doesn't need Moyes sanction...
