Japan were less able to produce big, physical players so had to concentrate on technique and agility.

England were able to produce big, physical players and have therefore done so, to the detriment of technical players.

It's a comparison on style of play between a "new" nation and England.

England has money, players and spent many years in football while Japan only entered football the day. In their short time, they play better football than England. England have better players than them player for player but still also Japan lost, they didn't park the bus and hope to counter unlike we did so the question is why do we play poor football compared to a relatively new nation like Japan? Surely they cant be better than us!!

It's not about being "better" than England.

I think the quesion is how can a "new" nation develop a style of football that is much easier on the eye and develop players with far superior technique than England? If they can do it then why can't England?

Unless you're happy with the turgid football that the English national side plays? Or with English players who struggle to keep posession and who can't take the ball in while under pressure?

How have Japan in their short footballing experience are able to produce players like Honda, Kagawa, Nakata
---------
The Kagawa that Rooney starts over for United?

Would Nakata be as big a legend for Japan as he was if he was English?

Honda suddenly a better midfielder than the likes of Gerrard and Lampard?

Really? So why isn't it your first language?

This is not an English class and occasional mistakes can be made.

We have the better players Lampard D but its the football which is the question.

Surely we have better coaches than them!!

My slant on this is that we should nip it in the bud.

They play some nice football, but they're still too naive to aspire to bigger andbetter things. More players in the big leagues will help them, but as an int'l side, I think playing regional tournaments and qualifiers in Asia will continue to hold them back for some time.

The problem is management Imo. If England were managed better in the past or are currently managed well then result and style of play wouldn't look so bad. You don't expect Roy to play pass and move, do you?
He prefers Royball
