You'd think -

Kone > Lukaku's replacement
Vydra > Odemwingie's replacement
Di Santo > Fortunè's replacement

Good enough? Happy with that?

Could a striker force of Long, Vydra, Kone, Rosenberg and Di Santo(aswell as a goal scoring winger like Sinclair perhaps?) get the goals to keep us going?

On Vydra...

Very good season last year. Granted it was in the league below so unproven at this level. Very highly rated though.

Competition :

Sunderland - Have the lure of PDC. Italian connection.

West Ham - Have the lure of being in London.

Swansea - Have the lure of Europa League football

Tough.

Would love Kone but he has come out and said he wants to go to Everton.
Not how much should be believed at this time of year though.

I can't see any player worth his salt going to Sunderland this summer. PDC's connections are loose somewhere. If he keeps opening his mouth over the summer and Sunderland get off to a bad start, he won't last long.

The most that Di Santo has to offer is his age - 23 - so he can improve.

I still think we will talk to MAF once 30 June, the day his contract ends, comes and goes and no one has been in for him.

And Peter Odemwingie will still be an Albion player. He has shot himself in the foot with his outbursts. No one wants a troublemaker.

Shame about Kone, but if we can get Scott Sinclair it'll be a step in the right direction.

Swansea have agreed a £10m deal with Wilfred Bony.

Swansea showing some muscle. He's a very very good player.

Mbokani to Kiev
Kone to Everton
Bony to Swansea

Hmmm...

posted on 27/6/13

I said on new606 that I'm not really sure why everyone rates Mbokani so highly. Maybe its because he's Belgian but his goal record in the two decent leagues he's played out, France and Germany, stands at one goal in 17. People are really prepared to see us blow £6m+ on him?

Bony is a great signing for Swansea although I understand why Peace wouldn't pay £10m for him.

Kone is one I would have liked, but again, Peace wouldn't spend £6.5m on someone almost 30.

Sinclair is one who I think we need.

From what I have seen of Vydra, albeit limited, he looks a talent. His form tailed off at the end of last season but still scored 20. Quick and a good finisher. Still only 20. My only slight concern is how similar he is to Long. Could they pay together if necessary? He still looks a player though and I'd definitely take a punt on him.

Unconfirmed reports around that we are also after Eljero Elia, the Dutch winger, and also Jefferson Montero, an Ecuadorian winger (plenty of him on youtube).

The thing that all these players have in common is pace, which was one of the secrets of our early season form. After Long got injured and Odemwingie's breakdown we ended up with a huge lack of pace which killed SC's counter-attack philosophy.

Sinclair--Morrison--Montero/Elia
-----------Long/Vydra------------------

That looks rather exciting...

I should know better than to question Albion. They rarely let us down.

It's just when you see our competition snapping up our (reported) targets, it gets frustrating. Especially as its all quiet on our transfer front, although I'm sure stuff is going on behind the scenes.

When you see Swans signing Bony and Cardiff agreeing deals for Tom Ince and some £8m Danish striker....it's hard not to get frustrated/worried.

I should no better though, right?

On a completely seperate note, tidy.

Our new away kit is the bowl lox, right?

Teix,

Team looks good. Really hope we pull Sinclair off. Loan with a view to a perm.

Elia would be epic. Too good to believe tbf. Never heard of that Montero dude. Like you say, plenty of him on YouTube.....but you can make anyone look good on YouTube.

Unsure on Vydra myself. Unproven at this level and although highly rated, I'm unsure.

Still wandering who Lukaku's replacement is going to be.

Competition for Romelu Lukaku for a striker's berth at Chelsea next season is hotting up. Jose Mourinho has put in a bid of £9m for Vitesse Arnhem's 20 year old Marco van Ginkel and has also got his sights on one of Edinson Cavani of Napoli or Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund. So unless Mourinho is thinking of jettisoning Fernando Torres and/or Demba Ba, I think Rom at best is in for a seat on a rotating bench at Stamford Bridge, which leaves the door ajar for another loan move either to us or Swansea if he wants to continue to get first-team experience to get into Belgium's squad for the Brazil World Cup next summer.

if Swansea have him and Bony next season, thats a bit excessive as only one will play in their system.

posted on 28/6/13

Swansea will have many more games in the Europa League.

And Michu has been known to play 'off' the striker aswell.

Some would call it excessive, I'd call it formidable.

It is so frustrating seeing all the transfers going through and what do we get from Albion? Sweet F.A.!!!

Why is it nothing seems to move transfer-wise until the last few days of the window. Grrrrr !

Aries, went to Son Bou yesterday - still the best beach on the island with some 'interesting' sights to behold! Hope you haven't hit 50c yet !

Hi Baggie Man, glad you saw some topless beauties at Son Bon - oops, I mean 'interesting sights'
Temps here are holding at 45C during the day and 38C in the evenings but will be higher in July and August.
Never fear, Baggie Man, Albion will do some business soon enough - I hope!
