Wow have to say this golovkin is the real deal. Superb shot tipped him first then threw the ko punch and really it wasn't a huge punch and it broke poor Mac. I'm putting the house on this chap to unify the division.

Martinez is good but gov will break him in half, nobody can withstand that power

Manages to drag Mayweather's name in there again. Sigh.

Martinez, won't take the fight.

He will look for one more big pay day and call it a day.

Martinez is meant to fight Chavez Jr but I think we have a star in the making with Golo.

posted on 30/6/13

Martinez has already fought Chavez Jr.

He is already a star.

But this latest KO should silence all the doubters.

D4 you've it called Martinez might fight one or twice more ib fairly pedestrian fights, Murray might get another pop, remember Mac droped him and went 10 rounds with Martinez, Mac fought well that night but he was leagues off golovkin tonight he was hurt ib the first round, tried to trade when he could and got split in two for the ko.

It's one of the most impressive ko I've seen in a while, I'll put it right up there with my favourite finishes of the past decade every bit as impressive as paq ko hatton, froch bute, Marquez ko paq and Martinez ko of Williams just a perfect shot and it ruined poor Mac

Seriously impressive ill hang my mast to him tonight it's one of the best performances I've seen since paq destroyed David Diaz which was a real take proper stand up and be counted fight for paq.

Chavez Jr had a rematch clause which he has now enacted so when Martinez is fit his next fight will have to be Chavez Jr.

DiBella pointed out that Martinez is
now a superstar with a lot of opportunities, and any
future fight “would not be on the same economic
terms.” Chavez Jr. made $3 million plus pay-per-
view percentage; Martinez made $1.4 million. There
was no rematch clause in their contract.

Where have you read about a rematch clause, let alone that JCC has enacted it?

GGG has again reiterated his desire to fight Mayweather and people have been calling for the fight.

This is what ESPN sports writer Dan Rafael said about it.

Dan Rafael @danrafaelespn 1m
I have people saying Floyd should fight GGG at
154. Um, OK. He wouldn't fight Pacquiao but he'd
fight that beast? Please, people. #never

You embarrass yourself every time you try and play down Mayweather's frankly astonishing level of talent.

Complete and utter mo'ng.

Golovkin is an animal.

Ola Afolabi has sparred with him and says he's the hardest puncher he's ever been in a ring with, his harder than any heavyweight he's sparred with.. And that's not even full force punches.

Can't wait to see him clear up the middleweight division and then move up to super-middleweight or even down to super-welter

posted on 30/6/13

Bit too big for a welter no?

posted on 30/6/13

I hope he fights Floyd, Martinez, Cotto or Canelo next.

posted on 30/6/13

As much as I love Martinez, he'd get smashed right now.

posted on 30/6/13

That's why I said super-welterweight

Although I can't see too many welterweights being in a hurry to move up in weight and fight him

posted on 30/6/13

Golovkin is both very skilled and ridiculously powerful, middle-weight division is over, any belt holder who dares will be destroyed.

He's dangerous for anyone and only a really skilled boxer who can take the occasional punch would be able to stop him. Floyd if he comes down or Ward if he goes up would be the only ones capable IMO.

Martinez should just call it a day, he's only lost twice, that looks great on his CV. Another fight against any decent opposition would be risky judging by his performance against Murray.

Martinez gets hit quite a lot from what I've seen, thinking about it, Golovkin would end him.

I wonder when he'll peak? He's already 31...

posted on 30/6/13

A lot of people writing Martinez off for some reason. Yes he's getting old but he's still got speed, fast hands and can take a punch. The only thing hindering him at the moment is his dodgy knee.

For me Martinez has been over-rated for years. Quality fighter but never ever 3 in the world.

Martinez is/was elite level.
