the problem with giving your best batsman captaincy is you will have to sacrifice on the runs he used to make. Cook on the long term will suffer that. There is a very few captains that succeed batting wise on the long run.

That is exactly the reoson I would never want say a kohli to captain India, because when the team does poorly they become defensive.

England do you think if Strauss was the captain KP would have been back for India series. The main reoson KP was out was because of strauss. It was only because of cook that he convinced flower to sort the issues out ASAP.

Cook and Root have done nothing as openers Cook i thought was being pisitive and scoring but that was a shot that should have been left alone. He is having a poor series and now only one test for him to get a big score.
