First you dump us out of the Championship and then you buy one of our future stars.
No, but seriously, Dwight Gayle deserves to be playing at a higher level and has enormous potential. I think he'll flourish in the Premiership. We have some other players coming through who should help us have a real go at bouncing back up to the Championship. In the meantime, Dwight along with George Boyd and Ryan Bennett will be joining my Barclays Fantasy League team. It will interesting to watch them (and Palace, too) on MOTD this coming season.
Thomas should give us a bit of know how and PL experience which will be invaluable, but I'm not expecting him to pull up any trees whilst Gayle has enormous potential and represents a long term gain whatever happens this season - and hopefully he can step up whilst Glenn is out injured. Not really convinced we need Dobbie, Jonniesta won't let him have a moment in the team
Would love to see us sign a couple of defensive improvements, the couple of Chelsea players they're looking to loan out - Ake and Chalobah would represent good business
I agree with Punting about Thomas and Gayle. Gayle has shown he can score at Championship level so even if we get relegated he might be one for the future.
Dobbie was alright when we were having our bad run. But I'm not sure if that's because everyone else was so bad? He's more of a Championship player and imagine he'll just be used as cover.
Now we've been linked with Shelvey? Another attacking midfielder. I saw somewhere it was a season long loan, but another source said £5m bid.
Under DF we had a team of defensive midfielders, now we're collecting a team of attacking midfielders. I think we need 1 maybe 2 central defenders and a replacement for KG
I agree with that being where we need to improve, still think we might be making a late move for Ince - still being linked even though Cardiff have had a bid accepted, and he may find London a more enticing proposition.
Not convinced on Shelvey, never really seen him do anything particularly effective
I don't mind Shelvey as a player but i just don't think he is what Palace need.
I think Ince is a no-goer as the others sound as though there wages would be higher than Palace's.
I read today we have had a bid for Adomah turned down(not sure if true) but i wouldn't mind him joining.
We obviously need another striker and would like to see us take a punt on Austin of Burnley.
As MonThePalace stated we need to replace KG and i wouldn't mind Bridcutt to be honest, just not sure we will be going on a spending spree to capture these sort of players though.
Charlie Adam would be my choice.
Forget his time at Liverpool as I think he's better when being a bigger fish in a smaller pond. We need someone who can create.
As it stands, we seem to be staring relegation head on with some of the names touted around. That, along with our historically dismal top-flight record doesn't bode well.
But OBVIOUSLY I hope i'm wrong
(And no, I don't want us to break the bank and end up in trouble again but I do feel we can be looking a tad higher than we seem to be atm)
I've read each post, so i thought i'd put My 2ps worth...
Just heard We've signed Dwight Gayle - well, it shows We're not a poor anymore, I just hope My Club know what they're doing, as this is a gamble.
No doubt 'One For The Future' so, does DG start with us? or go out Onloan to a Championship Club to get time? ;/
Ex-clown, Jonjo Shelvey wasn't for me, whilst he has talent, just seems bad attitude written all over him.
And the same with Tom Ince, again young talent, but can see his dad wanting to get involved.
By the way, isn't André Moritz a foreign mercenary? given he wanted to leave, before Promo?
Anyhoo, I prefer a small squad so, We have a consistent XI, but nothing wrong with a fair size, given you've got to plan ahead for suspensions & injuries.
WE NEED 2-STRIKERS to gel from the off, so My Realistic markee signings would be...Adam Le Findre, Jermain defoe, Jamie Mackie, Charlie Austin or Darren Bent. Also, Ben Watson, Aaron Cresswell, Jobi McAnuff, Emmerson Boyce, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Adrian Mariappa, & back-up GK... Ali Al-Habsi or Mark Schwarzer
If Dwayne's undisclosed fee was £8.5m, then you have a bargain.
Confirmed:
IN - Dobbie & Gayle
OUT - Moritz
I never really rated Moritz at the end. He was good against the weaker teams like Wolves but sometimes just seemed like a passenger. I reckon he's got a money move elsewhere.
As soon as we got promoted I said Charlie Austin or Le Fondre would be good. So now it's confirmed does anyone think Gayle will be our starting striker?
What about Robson-Kanu from Reading?
I don't think Stoke will let Adam go but he was a key player in that Blackpool team. Forgotten his name but the Chelsea player who went on loan to Watford looked quite good?
I thought it was £4.5m for Gayle?
Maybe it's £4.5 with add ons total £8.5m.
Hopefully he does well. Not just because he's playing for us but it's always nice to come across an underdog story every now and then
For that sort of money i would think Gayle would be a starter.
Would like to see us buy Austin, i see Hull apparantly offered 4.5m for him this week which is never going to buy him.
The CB Bangura we are looking would probably be enough defensive cover, so now all we need is Austin, Adomah & Bridcutt and i'll be happy.

You might be wrong there. Apparently he is having a medical at Hull.
Unconfirmed confirmation from Olly that we've signed Jerome Thomas and Dan Gosling. Maybe Gosling is the KG replacement we're after?
Mon- are you able to confirm whether the unconfirmed confirmation from Olly that we've signed Dan Gosling has been confirmed?
Excited about our signings so far- like the approach of signing hungry starlets instead of Premier League journeymen. Dwight Gayle, Jerome Thomas and now Jose Campana...
...Palace: the Team of the Teenies?!
I'm not sure about Gosling all I can confirm is the confirmed "unconfirmed confirmation" from Olly is in fact unconfirmed. I haven't heard any other news so don't know if that was just a rumour.
Hope that clears it up for you
re the above two posts: I think I've got a headache!
I'm afraid we're going to need some sort of medical confirmation regarding the above post.
hi palace fans. welcome to the big team and the premier league ja606 column.
my name is chronic and i support super spurs.
we are gonna wallop you opening day i am afraid
Don't get too confident. We have a good record against Spurs at Selhurst Park.
However if we have to lose the first 3 games to lure everyone into a false sense of security like last season only for us to upset the odds then so be it
