Yay!

Just had a look at the footage provided by LloydX on a previous thread.

Looks very promising.

And there's some of your fellow red dogs slating us for signing lower league players the best part about it is some of your lot said you were signing Messi. . Never mind Billy will be happy.

Here we go.... Wassa

First we are told (by your trolls) that we are not signing anyone because we have no money. Then we invest in young talent who clearly from the videos we have seen has got what it takes to step up a division and you still have the audacity to come on here and have a dig.

Webbo where in my comment have I slated you? I said some of your fellow red dogs! Can I just say this as well, I've heard through the grapevine that your owner is trying to bring more billionaire investors in? Have you heard anything along those lines?

Was about to post saying it wouldnt be long before the sheep come sniffing

One of the best, if not the best right winger in league one. Pace. Trickery. Eye for goal, and can take a man.Good signing.

Not heard anything about other investors. Maybe you are confusing us with Leeds?

The lad looks to have all the attributes we need. Just a case of seeing how gets on and if he can make the step up. No doubt signing young players who you can improve and sell at a profit if they move on is the way to go nowadays.

It strikes me we are in danger of getting carried away here. Don't judge him on what you see on youtube. Those of us who are old enough will remember that Andrea Silenzi's agent put together a video of him which made him look world class. You could put together clips of George Boyd which would look equally impressive.

As far as I am concerned, at the moment he is another Stephen McLaughlin, and both should not be judged or pressurised until they have played a dozen games or so.

Red for 50 Years. I am very impressed with how you managed to say we shouldn't judge him while also wholeheartedly judging him unfairly in the same sentence. Skills.

George Boyd is a good player. He'd get in most championship teams

posted on 2/7/13

shh, I haven't really judged him have I? I've just said that like McLaughlin he should not be judged. How is that judgemental?

posted on 2/7/13

Well, you did kind of compare him to Silenzi. Plus, the term 'another Stephen McLaughlin', a player who didn't get a minute on the pitch last season, suggests that you imagine Paterson will do the same. Which is kind of a judgement.

But don't get your knickers in a twist duck, I was only messing with ya!

posted on 2/7/13

Redfor50years, fair enough, withhold judgment but it's also possible to watch a player and form an opinion. He looks like a very good player at that level.

posted on 2/7/13

I was comparing the Silenzi vid with the Paterson clip, not the players. Paterson and McLaughlin are comparable in as much as we haven't seen them play a game for us.

Comparing without judging.

Knickers untwisted.

Debate is good

I think we know more about Paterson, though. He's performed well in League One, scored a fair few goals for a young lad, and some of those goals were very good. Certainly promising, but you're right that we shouldn't put too much pressure on the lad.

It's a bit odd comparing him to Slienzi though isn't? That was 20 years ago when there wouldn't have been the same level of video evidence and you're talking about the first Italian to play in the Prem so it was always going to be a gamble and he was hardly prolific before we signed him anyway. Paterson is playing in England and I'm sure we haven't signed him based on this youtube video. I expect he's been properly scouted unlike Silenzi was allegedly. I also doubt Slienzi's agent ever made him look world class. He was a poacher and a big lad and that's about it. I would say George Boyd has far more talent and hence would look appropriately talented if you put all his goals together in one video.

Don't forget Ned Kelly will know all about him having been at Walsall last season.
