It's to stop Modric coming to us

I'm on BBC 24 now. What's going on?

Buildings set on fire, why?

There's a guy in a wheelchair and two blokes in Elizabethan peasant attire there.

i can see whats going on from my window... but its basically a protest against the police shooting from a couple of days ago.. that turned violent..

turned violent? possible understatement there chronic.

You're going to have fun getting to sleep tonight!!

Bloody idiots though, if you illegally walk round waving a gun, good chance the police will shoot you.

well the word is that there was more to the police shooting than self defence there is a suspicion of foul play by the police which hasnt been explained by the police which is why i think it all kicked off.

That's seems straight forward to me.

The whole point in the Police is to keep the streets safe.

Whether the police fired first or not is completely irrelevant to me. I can't believe that's even an arguement. Mark Duggan was carrying a gun illegally, if he wasn't he'd still be alive.

And the goverment want us to pump 500 million into this area without them helping with transport issues or anything.

SteveCarr you are so ignorant. Shut up mate. I'm sure you're not from a background where you could relate to this so stick to your cups of tea and games of crocket

agreed.... but police should know that in an area like tottenham if you shoot someone dead then it will cause a lot of problems.. therefore... to at least come out and explain and claifity the situation was very necessary and could have prevented what has happened tonight.

the shooting of Mark Duggan is not what is causing the problem, it is the unwillingness of the police to come out and explain exactly what happened that is causing problems, as far as i can tell anyway.

this is an area in which the police and the community really do not get on well.

to be honest, looking at this incident from purely a THFC perspective..... it could actually be good...

think about it...... we are the biggest employer in the area, if we go, then problems of crime and things like tonight will happen even more... it should bring home to the council and government just how important the football club is to this area.. it is all we have left.... so they need to help us fund the stadium development and redevelopment of the area

Any loss of life is a sad loss, let's be honest. My deepest condolences go out to the Duggan family.

In regards to the lack of info, is there not a IPCC investigation going on? The incident was yesterday, these investigations take time.

In regards to the protest, you'd probably assume that a small percentage of the protesters were genuinely there for Mark Duggan - the rest are jumping on the band wagon and looting, just like the student riots.

Maybe people won't go round waving guns now they know that there's a good chance they'll be shot dead. Not likely though, there'll be another shooting within a week.

Anyone watching this on BBC News 24?

They have a bloke called 'Lyndon' on who claims to have been "several yards" from a bus explosion.

Don't think you were mate, you wouldn't be talking.

a known 'gangster' waves a gun at a cop and gets shot dead and then the next day the people are rioting in protest at him being shot?

would not like to be a cop in England, seems like they are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

--------

well thats just it.. noone actually knows what really happened..... as another poster said... the independent investigation is ongoing.

Yes that's about the gist of it and tottenham folk seem to think it's everyone else's fault but the idiots who think the law doesn't apply to them.

Police are there to uphold the law first and foremost not have to explain themselves to appease the thugs that live there.

Probably thinks explosions are cool and is just exaggerating the situation so people think he's cool...
