Edin – Must pull you up on one thing to be pedantic, Scotch Whisky is spelt as I just have, Whiskey with a ‘e’ is an American spelling so is specifically used for American Whiskeys like the Bourbons.

Bluethru – I think I’ve had that in Belgos, is that one of those Trappist beers which is about 9%? I love trying a few of them over a night. There is also a bar on Drury Lane called Low Lander or something which is a Belgium / Dutch bar and they have a quite a selection. You can be pretty far gone off five pints in there.

Yeah it is the trappist beer havent managed to fin the 12 yet though.

Lowlander is a good bar but i prefer the porter house in covent garden. So many more beers!

maybe have to sink a few some time.

Me and my mates want to go to the Porter house and try every beer but there isn't enough of us yet. there are beers from 40 different countries and some of them are as you say 9% vol.

I like whisky and bourbon, they are all different in terms of flavour.

JD is a great drink but I tend to mix it with coke.

Whisky I like to drink neat, so I tend to have a shot or two in a session maybe.

I actually prefer irish to scottish whisky in the common brands, I would take a Jamesons over most of the scotch brands fr example. I prefer single malts to blended but you can get some decent blended as well, for example one of the nicest I have had is Johnnie Walker Blue label, that is smooooth.

Never really understood the hype about Johnnie Walker.

Do like some of the American stuff when mixed with soft drinks.

Souther Comfort- Lemon and lime is class

Johnnie walker comes in a number of different guises, I refer to Blue Label Edin, if you haven't tried it do so. It will cost you around £130 a bottle on the net but you do occasionally find some nicer hotel bars that sell it in shots.

Nah I have tried Blue Label, admittedly it was 3/4 years ago when I didnt like whisky. But I really didnt rate the stuff.

Anything that isnt single malt is cooking whisky IMO

I love port with cheese. We spent a nice time trying different Ports in Porto when we played them first time around, learned a lot as well to the extent I tend to go LBV (late botled Vintage) when buying these days if available, can't remember why exactly but somewhere through the drunken haze I seem to remember the guy suggesting that would never be a bad move.

Edin, try it again, I prefer singles like I said but JW blue blows the socks of most, you have to pay to beat it.

I still can’t make my mind up about Port, I guess Porto is the place to try it though. I sometimes try is in good restaurants with the cheese board but normally because I think it is a socially acceptable way of squeezing one more drink in to the evening.

I can’t imagine drinking it without cheese but can be a lovely combination.

I only ever drink it when crossing the channel

Another tip, if you like red wine (I do, okay I will be honest here, apart from dark rum, there isn't an alcoholic drink I have tried I don't like, and I will always try something new) then if you get a chance try German Red, very difficult to get hold of but well worth the effort. Have not had a bad bottle yet.

I remember as a teenager drinking a bevy called green monster(snake bite and Blue Boles). Looked like something from a chemistry lab,and tasted like it came from one.
