At least if we sign him Jones can move into midfield and we won't need Fabregas.
Because Vidic has missed the best part of two seasons with chronic injuries? Can he offer us 20 games a season anymore?
Because Rio now has to be managed and will be unavailable every other game and will be gone come this time next year?
Because none if Evans, Smalling or Jones have been able sustain fitness over a log period of time?
Because we have lost points in previous seasons playing Carrick at centre half?
Just a thought.
agreed busby, i dont mind this signing at all
Perhaps Vidic would be part of the Fabregas deal, I mean they will need another centre-back since Mascherano will move into midfield and give them more physical presence and having already spent so heavily already I doubt they'd meet PSG's demands for T.Silva.
Not hugely enthusiastic about the signing, only if he is a top quality player does it make any sense.
Maybe you're right Busby. But at the moment we have 5 centrebacks, 3 leftbacks and 2 rightbacks. We can't have another season where most of our defenders are injured at the same time can we?
3 leftbacks
alexander buttner is not and never will be a Leftback
Will Fabio be at the club come the summer? Could do with a season on loan at a proper club IMO.
Buttner won't make it.
Perhaps Vidic is leaving? There have been rumours.
Vidic leaving would make no sense. He is the club captain and still our best CB when fit. If Garay joins it is because Jones will become a full time utility man or midfielder.
or we're preparing for the phasing out of vidic and rio over the next season or two?
There is little evidence to suggest this Garay deal is happening to be fair.
I would be happy with Garay. I watched him quite a bit in Spain and was impressed. Not seen much of him at Benfica but he could only have improved.
Heard yonks back that any deal involving barca and fabregas would involve vidic going the other way, but it was just a little rumour back in may early June
the signing makes sense to me, I am not overly sold on smalling (obvious talent but seems to have stalled), jones is still very young and this combined with vidic injury problems (sciatica and significant acl injury don't lead well to running/jumping) and ferdinand is getting old with previous injury problems
Man Utd need an overhaul of their squad.
Not convinced about them defensively as in strength in quality. Midfield wise i'm not that impressed.
City or Chelsea to win the league, not because of Moyes not being good enough, he is, you will lose out because it's your belief in your current squad that will let you down. City and Chelsea will be making the big summer moves regardless if Cesc goes to Utd, A player of Cesc's ability is long over due in the Utd midfield for years.
If Utd are serious about winning the league they should sign Varane from Real and perhaps Kaka along with Cesc
Maybe Vidic going the other way in any deal for Fabregas isn't out of the question. Long been rumours of Mrs Vidic not being entirely happy in sunny Britain. Maybe she fancies a move back to Spain?
Has Vidic had chronic injuries in the past 2 years?
I thought he had the one major injury against Basle in 2011 that basically pt him out for 18 months and has since been brought back slowly with a couple reoccurring injuries based on that major injury but this calendar year played the majority of our PL games.
He's only 31, our club captain, has had a pretty good injury record before the 2010 incident and has shown great form this year, why would we sell him?
BusbyBabes,
Spot on! Can't understand why people can't understand why a CB might not be such a bad idea...
20m Euros seems a bit pricey to me though.
I am sorry but this is a no-no from me.
It might be a load of old codswallop anyway. None of the english media and decent sources over here are saying it.
It seems to be tabloid Portuguese and bizarelly also Italian and Spanish sources saying it.
Not convinced myself.
