Shocking decision from Roman to buy Carroll to be fair though

posted on 15/7/13

Hill-Wood told the Evening Standard: "Arsène has money to spend but there's a limit. We can't spend £50m on one player. At a certain level, we can't compete. I don't think [majority shareholder] Stan Kroenke is going to put the sort of dollars in that [Roman] Abramovich or Sheikh Mansour are putting into Chelsea or Manchester City. That's not the way he thinks clubs should be run.

Still saying you're going to spend 70m? Still think you're going to buy Suarez?

Liverpool should have just lied to Roman about that Carrol thing... told him Newcastle wanted 45mil for Shergar

Then run off laughing with the 60mil

It's no wonder Arsenal fans are so delusional, when their Chairman speaks so much shiite.

The Arsenal chairman, Peter Hill-Wood, has admitted the club "can't compete" in the transfer market with their Premier League top-four rivals. But he is confident the Gunners would mount a serious title challenge this season and insisted the board were not worried about Arsène Wenger's failure to win a trophy for seven years.

It's last September. 10 months, not exactly ancient history, and I doubt much has changed since then....

going from Liverpool to arsenal is a marginal step up but quite frankly not worth the hassle.

Suarez wants to move somewhere where he has a chance at major trophies.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal are dead ends in that regard.

Arsenal have the CL to offer but no chance to win it.

He'll join a top club and leave Liverpool or he won't move.

Arsenal aren't even an option as that move doesn't tick any boxes and basically is a sideways stepping stone. A pointless move in other words.

I've found it now, it's from last year. Before we received any money from the new sponsorship deals...

the whole point is they came out and said it has changed, money is available as we have paid off the stadium hence why papers are reporting storys of us after big players in the 1st place

Reading the article, it looks more like a statement of policy to me. I'd be livid if our Chairman had his attitude of not worrying about winning anything. I don't think it matters what sponsorship you get, either Wenger won't spend it, or the board won't let him.

And that's not a wum

Arsenal are moving forward and it will be blatantly obvious by the end of this transfer window.

It's frustrating that Liverpool fans are laughing at our offers, predictions of players coming in and where the club is heading when they have no idea what is going on with us (or Suarez from the sounds of it).

no it's your opinion, at least wumming has some humour value

Turdinator.... peter hill-wood isn't even the Arsenal Chairman. Lots has changed since then.

Maybe if you lot didn't create so many articles acting as if he's already signed for you, it wouldn't happen. No matter what you say, 30m is a derisory offer, and all anyone can do is laugh at it.

Crouch just to make you feel better - arsenal are a world class team full of world class players and the best manager in the world. Suarez must be dying to come to us because we'll win the league and CL next season, the situation at the club is perfect and I hope it never changes, I love battling for fourth and everything wenger says is right, happy
Crouch? Am I not a 'wum' now?

"It's frustrating that Liverpool fans are laughing at our offers"

you're making laughable offers though

bid £45mil (and I seriously doubt Suarez would even move sideways to you) or go spend £5mil on the new Gervinho.

We've been hearing for years from you lot about Wengers 'war chests' and that it's going to be different this year. It's not been different for the last 8 years or so. You're all like a stuck record. You've been void of ambition for so long, you haven't a prayer of doing anything more than 'flattering' Suarez.
