Hmmm... I'm not sure. I've championed the notion of signing the Brazilian. He splits opinion, but I think it'd be good science.
Personally, I don't think a deal's likely. I think the club would have signed him by now IF they were genuinely interested. I imagine he'll move to a club (most likely in Italy) below a the standard a player of his experience & talent deserves.
I've a nasty feeling Wenger won't sign a decent, experienced keeper to battle it out with Chesney, instill some healthy competition and strengthen the goalkeeping position at the club.
I've an even more nasty feeling in my bones, that Wenger's got this mad-cap idea of making Fabianski the number 1!
Whats more scary is that Fabianski is a better keeper than Chesney.

Ability wise, I'd agree with that. And I'll add that, 'ability wise' he's probably one of the better keepers in the Prem (IMO).
However, he's mentally fragile & doesn't deal with pressure well at all. If he was 20/21/22, I'd understand & accept that, but he's 28.
In the Prem, probably more than any other European league, the goalkeeping position requires a level of bravery & a very affirmative style (to be successful).
What Chesney lacks, Fabianski has & vice/versa.
Chesney has that arrogance, bravery and affirmative nature, he doesn't get phased or let an occasion effect him in the way that Fabianski does. What's more he's 23 & I'm confident that he'll continue to improve.
Given the choice of the two, for all of the older Poles natural ability, as a Premier League goalkeeper, I'd plump for Chesney without too much thought.

Very well put Moist. That's why I don't rate either.
Been there and done fabianski. We all know we will be in trouble if he is our number 1.
We've kept Fabianski so that kind of indicates our intentions as regards the GKs.
Unless we suddenly decide to move Fabianski on, can't see a move for Cesar happening.

He didn't have a flappy moment, before that he hadn't really played for a few seasons so who said he hasn't learnt or grown from that? 28 a person can change, it's more difficult but not impossible, he looked to have turned the corner, however....
I do prefer someone else as we can't afford to gamble anymore being 8 years without a trophy.
I think that it is now clear that Wenger plans to keep both Szczesny and Fabianski and both are not going to accept demotion to third string.
I believe also that Wenger will not want to spend his transfer budget or pay big wages on a third string goalkeeper.
My guess is that Wenger will either promote Martinez
as third string, which is increasingly likely as he is on
tour or he will bring in someone with experience but
unlikely to rock the boat as he did once before when
we brought in Lukic an over 40 age gk who was occasionally a 'bench warmer'.
Cesar will not move to Arsenal, because he will want
to play regular first team football in lead up to forthcoming World Cup and his wages are too much
for third string.
According to Redknapp we have had a bid of £1.2m rejected for Cesar.
So obviously Arsene was OK with Cesar as no.1.
Now I agree Arsenal were not willing to pay more than £1.2m because of Cesar's wages. But I am not sure Arsene is sold on Chesney or Fabianski as no.1.
Lets see if QPR relent and agree to Arsenal's original offer.
^^^ Cesar earns 45,000 a week that includes performance bonuses, the stumbling block is the club wants him to take a pay cut so his wage is 30,000. What a joke yet we pay bendtner 52,000 you can see why we cant attract players when they have to take pay cuts in order to join.
Cesar earns 45,000 a week

Not sure about that or Napoli wouldn't have said no. I suspect its nearer £80k a week.
