Cant think of any other team thats been as unlucky as us with injuries the last couple of seasons and this seaon seems to have started the same, but at least its where we have the most cover.

Would Robertson not be a better bet for the holding midfielder role? I think Allan has more to offer going forward?

Gutted for him but will we really miss him? Allan has hit the ground running and we've got decent cover, especially with Gunning signing. To be honest we should just offload him, offer him a pay-off, he'll be out for 6-7 months minimum with this injury. Poor signing in the first place.

From what I have read this injury could end his career. I don't think we will see him in tangerine again.
Replacement-wise we have Dillon who will probably be looking for a new role if gunning arrives. Would be a direct swap so no need to juggle any other positions.

TBH, now I think about it, Severin will probably retire. Look back at Lee Wilkie, I reckon this will end his career like, as Houstie said "he is getting on in years" and I think he may just choose to hang up his boots.

Could he retire with a severance payment to free up wages at the club? I know this sounds very harsh but I would imagine he is one of the better paid players at United?

No no no no! He's awful at that role - canny tackle to save his life and is a total wimp. Both Flood and Rankin are better options but I'm afraid I don't think Houston sees it that way.

Shame about Severin, wasn't a vital player but definitely a good squad player to have. We could miss the depth he'd bring.

I think this really could be the end of Severin's career. He is getting on a bit now, and in my eyes, only had two years or so left at the top - if he's lucky. It's ashame but I would still love to see him in the dressing room offering his experience and influence to the others.

I'm feelin really sorry for Seve. A bad injury last season and now an even worse injury early this season.

I'll be surprised if this injury does not spell the end his career. Certainly in the SPL.

We do have some cover in midfield (all hail the emergence of the superb Scott Allan) but FFS I hope we're not relying on Scott Robertson to fill Seve's boots.

Robertson did really well when he first came to the club, but since that first injury he has very rarely put in a performance worthy of the name.

On Saturday, he came on for the injured Seve and ran around like a headless chicken. Essentially it was 10 v 10 as he contributed the square root of FA to the team effort - any influence he had was destructive; unable to find a man with a pass, unable to hold the ball up, unable to link the play - absolutely useless!

My patience with Scott Robertson has well and truly run out, and over the term of his contract he looks like a complete waste of money.

I rekon we should bin him as soon as his contract is up (end of the season I think) and use his salary to bring in either another striker or natural right winger.

Also gutted for Seve as i thought he was decent at times and could play a couple of positions. We can't afford to be sentimental though, and as others have said he has been a non stop sick note who will not realistically recover before his contract is up. So i would like to pay him off and get someone else in. I also heard he was the highest paid at the club when he signed....

Cyber, being a wee bit hard on SR there. I thought he had really started playing well again at the end of last season, remember oarticularly the game away at Hearts where Goody miised the last min pen. He was immense in that one. Lets not judge him on a performance where he was no where near fit.

Housty does have a soft spot for him though, and i wouldn't have him in my current strating 11 unless he gets back to his best.

You're probably right.

I'm just getting really hacked off with players who spend the majority of their contracts either on the treatment table or recovering from yet another injury.
