It's been a decent showing in the Europa so far for Serie A.

Two goals and two red cards in six minutes.

Should be game over now. Feyenoord need two with nine men.

Finally Serie A teams are doing well in Europa League

I thought you were poor tonight, as was the referee.

Inter need to be more convincing if they've any chance of winning it.

One game at a time.

Cracking finish from revitalised Guarin.

Great result for Torino.

Looking forward to the draw tomorrow. Could be some good games looking at the teams left.

Dreadful result for Bilbao.

I'd imagine there's a likelihood of Italian teams coming up against each other.

I'm telling you Villarreal have a great chance!

Pathetic stuff from Feyenoord fans.

Yeah they've got five teams in it so you'd think so. Roma or Napoli up against one of the Spanish sides could be good. Villarreal do have a grest chance, hope they win it.

Will be interesting to see how Everton do. They've looked a completely different team in Europe.

Yeah- I have a feeling that this could be similar to Martinez with Wigan when he won the FA Cup, but took them down.

Not saying Everton will go down, but they could win the Europa League and scrape 17th!

I doubt they'll be as low as 17th. There are some really poor sides in the prem.

Yeah, me either, but it's not out of the question. Thursday-Sunday can take its toll.

posted on 26/2/15

Yeah true. I think they'll finish around where they are now, to be honest, even if they go on a cup run.

Serie A 5/5 in the EL

Still second, but in a great position now to top the season-end coefficients table and claw back some of the difference on the top 3.

Teams still in Europe as it stands before the CL R16 return leg:

Italy 6/6
Spain 5/7
Germany 5/7
England 4/7
Ukraine 3/6
France 2/6
Russia 2/6
Portugal 1/6
Netherlands 1/6

Juve knocking out BvB could be a big boost for Serie A. Atletico beating Bayer would do you a big favour too.

The current 5-year gap between you and the Bundesliga is over 12 points, which makes overtaking them by the end of the season extremely unlikely, but over the next two seasons they're going to have 8 points more than Serie A dropping off their score.

Basically, it means that if you managed to outscore the BL by more than 4 points (in total) over the next two seasons, you'd get 3rd place and the extra CL slot back. This season is shaping up nicely to get a lot of that work done now.

Not sure why I did that twice.

Yeah, still pretty slim margins at the moment. The return CL legs will be interesting, with a Serie A-BL and a Liga-BL tie still in the balance. The PL looks set to drop a lot of points if both City and Arsenal bow out.

I think Spain's 23.000 points last year were far and away the highest points total ever btw.

I think there's more of a risk of the pl losing their spot than the bl.

Bayern will likely continue to do well in the next couple of years to help prop it up. From our perspective we could do with Chelsea doing well this season to get us a few more points and hope for a much improved season next season.

Serie A could really close the gap on us this season if things go their way.

I lot may hinge on who gets into the CL. From a coefficient perspective Serie A have benefited massively from Napoli dropping into the Europa group stages.

Can't wait for this game tomorrow, got my train tickets yesterday, although I fear it'll be the game that seals them the title.
