Does anyone for one minute believe Ayre would make such a statement at this stage, if he had not been instructed by the clubs legal team that the contract is water tight in terms of any supposed release clause.
Arsenal simply need to stump up somewhere close to 50 million, and I'm sure they will get Suarez.
Get your facts straight Toor, I vary rarely comment on Chelsea and City these days.

So it does sound like liverpool are actually in control of the situation. I had my doubts tbh as the new owners have made mistakes in the past. This confusion seems to be down to the legal differnces between the release clause in Spain and in England.
In Spain the clause would mean Suarez can buy out his contract for the clause value eg £40m but in England it would have to be at market value. It would be reasonable to assume market value would be closer to £50m given the recent transfers of Falcao and Cavani.
I say keep him unless Madrid come in with a big offer, £45m or more.
It would of been interesting if Madrid bid £40m. I think we would of excepted it personally
Sell him to Madrid for £39,999,999.98
So long as we're progressing ourselves and chipping away at those above us, we'll get there.

RAP, the problem is we could be chipping away for a very long time. Slow progress would probably see our best players drift away to fulfill their ambitions elsewhere. I really think we need to go for it big time with one big push to get into the top 4. Now is possibly the best time to do it as there has been so much transition in the teams above us. Its possible that at least one of them will struggle to adapt to their new circumstances.
Convince Suarez to give us one more year and promise to spend big money on key players. If it works the CL revenue would cover the majority of the additional outlay. CL football would also give us far more chance of holding onto our top players, and attract others.

I still believe he will end up at Madrid, probably for about £45m.
Rap, weren't we going to sell him for £20-25m
Maybe Shortlight is right, the only way forward is an oil rich super baron who treats us like a plaything and spends £60 mil nett every window.
