Fantastic news, AVB wouldn't of said this if he wasen't confident
Good news indeed..
He's also said that Verts is out for 2-3 weeks, although they hope to improve that by using PRP (blood spinning) technique.
you not worried that you need to pay that sort of wage to keep hold of him?
i thought he was a loyal player any way and will probably give you another season to see if you get back in CL or not without this pay rise.
the only person i see this benefiting is Bale.
it would if we did this with Luis make sense, as he wants out and you want to keep your best players, Bale has never spoken out of term or anything or had his head turned.
good for you lot as fans but seems unnecessary to me.
I liken this to Carrick when he went to utd. He was a pro and kept his mouth shut about his desire to move and therefore we got a better price and he got his move.
I consider this to be more of a loyalty bonus than anything else.. He could prob earn double that elsewhere so can't complain. A lot of it will be made up of performance bonuses anyway and we'll get more money for him in a years time if he had 3/4 years on contract instead of 2.
A good play by the board.
Why would we be worried bale deserves that pay rise.

SSN: AVB - Bale in talks over new contract
--------
Ahhh but has he specified which club ?
Jenners, why would we be worried? you can never win with football fans can you. If we sell Bale we are considered a selling club. If we reject Real Madrids persistent nature and give our best player a bigger contract to keep him then that's wrong aswell Bale is one of the best players to ever play for Spurs and we don't want to lose him. He is worth every penny for what he will give us this season, not worried one bit......Give him the 170,000 a week Spurs

I'm sure Bale is worth the contract but I very much doubt you will make back the money simply on shirt sales. If it's a £70,000 a week increase that would mean 7000 extra sales a week! That's allowing for £10 clear profit per shirt and I don't think clubs even get that amount.
it was a simple question Don.
say for arguments sake you don't get CL football for the next 3 seasons or so and still have Bale well he is on good money, i take it it wont effect you that badly with these supposed ffp rules.
not arguing that he doesn't deserve the money and think he will stay anyway, but does seem unnecessary from my point of view, unhappy player yes, you do what you can to keep, but he is quite happy by the looks of things, suppose this makes him even happier, so from that point of view all good.
Great to see the board showing ambition and that top, top players like Bale deserve such wages.
Just want this sorted, literally bored to the teeth of the Bale to Real saga zzzz

No he didn't not unless he sold about 7million shirts which I doubt
If this happens then the media will cry. They have been clinging to the hope he goes to Real Madrid or Man U and will be utterly devastated. Now they will have no choice but to rekindle the Rooney saga to compliment the Suarez one
Good news for us and Bale
Bad news that every other player will want a pay rise
BUT Real have been begging for a marquee player since Barca signed Neymar
If he's gonna leave next year anyway and he's on what a 3 year contract what benefit is there by nearly doubling his wage for one year only for him to go anyway? The only reason to do this is that he must have said he wants out surely? Why else increase it so much?
