I'm not sure I like the idea of a personal messenger, I think it detracts from the idea of a public forum.

It could prevent petty squabbles on some threads as they my make it private but it could descend into abuse in some cases.

Imagine how may abusive pm's RGK and Mafiaboy would get.

It's little things for me, I don't like having to press "Sign in", then moving the page so I can see the input boxes.

Having to resize the page to fit the article in too, then having to do it again when I go to the next page of comments.
