Jackson Martinez and more

Martinez has only been there a year and from what he's said seems pretty happy. Porto probably aren't exactly desperate for the money either considering their transfer dealings in recent years. Obviously everyone has their price but I dunno if there's much chance of it, especially considering they've already sold 2 star players this Summer.

Martinez - same as you I've not seen much but his goal record last season was pretty impressive to say the least. Could be a one season wonder.

Eriksen - lots of talent and hype but apparently fails to live up to it on the big stages (Champs League)

Capoue - Wenger is obviously a fan but seems to have gone off him a bit this summer. Would take him for 9mil, seems he's holding out for a better offer than Cardiff.

Martinez is god. He should stay at Porto or go to a club who challenges for everything it enters

if Napoli meet the buyout clause then Martinez will be off to Naples, got to say Benitez is signing some decent players at Napoli so far pity we cant say the same about Wenger atm.

I think that Higuain and Martinez together is a phenomenal waste of a goalscorer

Napoli have been linked with him recently, post signing Higuain. Would definetly be an solid option i feel worth exploring.

Eriksen is still only 20 years old, one year older than the Ox, but has lots of talent, is quick, skillful, good passer. Would fit Arsenal well and would under improve quite significantly under Wenger.

Baffled why we haven't gone back in for Capoue seeing as Tolouse are happy with £9m. Offer the same and we'd snap him up

TCW - agreed, perhaps it would work in our favour to have him as our main striker? also, when has Rafa ever played 2 up top?

Can't you get your currencies straight?

Its €40m.

An expensive option. He is right up there, just below the very best strikers on the planet. Signed two contracts in the last year. £40m+ minimum as Porto are gougers who already sold their whole team

Verm, yes he is definitely a lone striker for a team with a good supply, I wanted him very badly but no dice. He really should go to a 'top team'

I'd be very surprised, they've already spent a ruck this summer with Cavani their only big departure as far as I'm aware. Blowing €40m (I believe the clause is in euros, not pounds) on another striker who would command big wages isn't exactly what is needed during times of austerity in Italy.

As for Capoue, I genuinely don't think we will sign a defensive mid. I think the Ox is going to be utilised in a central role more this season, and we might, if we're lucky, sign a creative winger.

He's at the top of his game, he's good enough for trophies and £100k+ a week, i'm not trying to WUM anyone. I watch Porto semi regularly and he's one of my favourite players. Probably my favourite non Chelsea player.

you do know that italian teams pay transfer fees by installments, as for the wages i dont think he would ask for that much probably double what he's earning now so say around 80k a week

So you don't think that Arsenal signing a player or two of his ilk would mean they have a chance of challenging for trophies, and feel the need to repeatedly make that point without wumming?

Yes I do. In fact it's not just Italian teams, most European clubs do, but it doesn't change the fact that they've spent a lot of money this summer and won't be too keen to add €40m Euros onto their payments over the next couple of years.

Re wages, he'd expect to get as much as he could, not some comparison to his previous contract. There would be plenty of interest in him if one team triggered his release clause, I'm sure, and therefore his wage demands would increase.

How many games do you have to watch to watch a team semi regularly?

Martinez is earning about £30k a week. Ppl tend to exaggerate salaries in Europe. But thats probably after tax. Whether to pay tax or not seems to be a matter of choice in Portugal/Spain/Italy.

I think that if Arsenal came in for him, and one or two others, and they could win anything - they already can TBH, they're good enough, certainly for any cup.

I think he could also join clubs where he would earn more and have a higher likelihood of silverware. He's certainly good enough.

Martinez is faster version of Falcao. I think he would fit in very well if we get Cesc back.

kneerash, I would say over 10 over the course of the season

He would also want to be first choice though, and at the likes of Madrid/Barca/City/United/Bayern he wouldn't be. As for wages, at the risk of sounding like Ivan Gazidis, we have no problem there thanks to our new deals and FFP.

At Chelsea he would be first choice though

Unless Abramovic still makes Torres start at least 25 games a season.
