@nkelley82 Austin deal dead yesterday when player showed little respect for #nffc
Sounds like more than just choosing QPR to me.
It will be very interesting to watch QPR especially if they bomb and implode!
Fair enough SHH, there certainly was an obvious change in Sharp once his mate SoD left. I was keen for us to re-sign him based on how much effort he put in against Millwall at home (when SoD was still in charge) but I'm now of the opinion that we can get better. In fact in Cox, Mackie, Dex, Derbyshire, Tudgay, and Miller we must have some goals.
Red Forest Bear...
RE: Cox.
You can't get a picture of a player after just one game. His work rate was second to none and even though he only scored 5 goals his play, set up numerous goals. A very unselfish player.
I'd say there were more positive posts on these boards than negative.
Cox is quality, his unselfish team work is amazing and he does have a quality finish in him...goal of the season remember ? Ok maybe his confidence did suffer a bit but that was only because he was doing more for the team than himself. Cox is a top man and a must for our squad.
One game, I can see why you're sold on dropping Cox and playing Dex.
sounds like this jim price is a bit of a martha get my meaniing
still think with austin he would have taken us over the line
dyche said that he couldnt compete to hold onto austin with QPR who were willing to offer premiership wages in the champ... and these are terms that may have beat the alleged interest from palace and hull.
Either way, it seems we put in a good offer, QPR beat it with their "throw money at it" mentality, and austin followed the money. Cant fault the board and they've had plan B underway for the last day or two atleast.
Rumours are Finnbogason who have been banging them in at the top of the dutch leagues. I ave faith in the board that Plan B/C will be of the quality of dejjour and austin.
We just need to get round to signing wilson and the rest'll come together.
this guy who put this on the nottm evening post site sums my feelings up Fellow redlings where are the stellar signings?
QPR sign Austin a primary target and we get their 1 goal in 5 matches cast off Mackie.
Its a pitiful situation.
We have champagne taste and beer money. We are daydream believers with ideas of grandeur.
So what have we signed. Freebies, a journeyman, a dodgy Algerian from Greece, a 1 goal in every 5 games striker and a kid from tin pot Walsall.
Lennon at Celtic is making us look complete muppets as well.
I reckon we chased targets we had no chance in getting to sell a few more season tickets. At least we are only about 8000 behind our bigger rivals Derby now.
Future. 15 years with no prem football. More heartbeak for us redlings.
One positive note. At least Mackie is more profilic than Simon "donkey" Cox.
City Ground, o mist rolling in from the Trent, I desire
If you can't tell that's written by a sheep you need your head checking.
Bad day at the office, Bob?
just f..k off we did not get austin
Sorry bob you're way off. We have made some really good signings and we aim to play as a team. It's the team that will get promotion, not one player! Did anyone hear Derry on 5 live last night? Sounds like their dressing room is still in disarray. Roll on kick off then we'll see.
Bob, there are windows less transparent than you. Good effort though, really surprised you want to waste your time like that though.
cheer up bob, we'll write it off as one of those days where you find a comment that just reinforces how you feel. Fawas is bringing in players that will play for the shirt, not the money. Austin isnt the only good striker out there, and for 4m AND prem level wages, he can jog on.
Anyways, we'll all have different opinions, either swayed or reinforced come the end of the window.
And we'll hopefully see the mercenary money-ship get swallowed by choppy seas.
Interesting the accusations of QPR: "throwing money at it". Surely you mean "throwing a bit more money at it than Forest"?
Bob, do you read the NEP stuff often, the person who writes that is a WUM who comes in a critisizes all of our signings. The fact he can't even get the words t our 'anthem' right.
If it's true that QPR have been offering 'Premiership' wages ( not forgetting they were handing out 100k a week deals last season) then I personally would not be comfortable with this.
Don't forget Redknapp always has a clause in his contract that he gets a percentage of any transfer fees so he will not baulk on paying over the odds for anyone. It's also worth noting that three of the last four teams he has managed (Bournemouth, Southampton and Portsmouth) have all had to go into administration not too long after he left (coincidence?). Think it may be promotion or bust for QPR this season because if they don't go up they will need to sell a lot of their big earners.
There was never any chance of us signing Austin (or Hooper for that matter), so anyone who got their hopes up set themselves up for a fall. We did make a bid though, so at least we tried.
Bob, you can put a positive or negative spin on any situation. These boards are a classic example of that where opposition fans will find fault in the strangest of places. I'm pretty reserved when it comes to seeing things positively with Forest but I can't honestly see anything bad in the signings we've made with perhaps the exception of Tudgay (who I think is decent but not quite the standard we need).
Even Tudgay can make a difference given a chance, and we'll be operating with different tactics this season, hopefully we'll score goals whoever is up front because WINGERS!
Would you all like to take back the hardship we had to take on our board when Dunne also choose Qpr over us, go on be good lads and say and ill leave it at that.
Igor nice try, you're skint in the first place and was never ever going to sign Dunne on a free. because of his wage demands. At least we put a bid in for Austin. So No comparison and neither are we skint either. Keep clutching in hope Igor!
